Seeing this big a crowd back at the cricket is remarkable enough on the TV.
But are you at Edgbaston? What's the atmosphere like?

Ajaz Patel drops short and not even Dom Sibley is going to defend that.
The England opener crashes it through extra cover for four.
A very easy job for the third umpire there. Miles in.

Rory Burns is clearly home. There is no excitement out there at all.
Another sharp single, by Rory Burns this time and a direct hit at the non-striker's end.
Burns looked miles in but they're going to check...
Hello. Dom Sibley takes a sharp single first up off Ajaz Patel. Easily home in the end.
Has there ever been a time in history where every England fan has been totally content with the team that has been selected?

Fenners: It was a perfect opportunity to try someone new today, like Lewis Gregory. In good form and a chance to try out a back up all rounder in case Stokes gets injured in future. But that's too left field for @ECB_cricket isn't it......
Trent Boult digs in a bumper but on this pitch it's all too easy for Rory Burns to duck under it.
Back of a length and Burns dabs a late cut through a gap in the cordon for four. Excellent control on that shot.
Another cut fails to beat the diving man at gully.

The spin to Dom Sibley is a good idea I think. It might even be worth bringing him on a bit earlier next time.
Ajaz Patel sends down his second straight maiden over, this time to Dom Sibley.
We can safely bet that Sibley isn't going to start dancing down the pitch to knock Patel off his length.

It is extraordinary that New Zealand have made six changes. It is a shame that one eye is looking forward because Tests are an event in themselves, and they are playing for a series here. I am not sure about some of the changes.
I don't quite see why Kyle Jamieson is playing, but he is young and it is almost too precautionary I think.
Tidy return from Boult - just conceding a single to Sibley.
Trent Boult is back on for another burst before lunch.
Who do you put in then, Mickey?

Mickey Wallis: How can you genuinely have an opening batsman who only has one scoring shot? The best English teams in modern times had at least one opener who scored at a strike rate of at least 50. Just heaps pressure on from the get go. Sibley out.
Burns 23, Sibley 25
Slow-left armer Ajaz Patel is into the attack - the first bit of spin in this match.
And it's a very tidy start to Rory Burns - a maiden over.
