BIG moment!
It's good from Olly Stone. It's good from James Bracey.
It's in that dangerous channel outside off, and Ross Taylor, looking to carry on attacking, goes for a drive but gets a feather of an edge through to Bracey.
Boy, did England need that. Can they go on a roll now?

That might have been a telling-off for England in the huddle from Joe Root.
There was another England team huddle during that drinks break.
Joe Root seemed animated. There was plenty of finger pointing.
He's not happy.
Olly Stone replaces James Anderson.

How are there so many empties this early in the day?
This was the closest England came to breaking through during that first hour. It should have been taken by sub fielder Sam Billings.
England haven't really created anything else this morning, or beaten the bat with any regularity.

New Zealand are grinding England into the dirt.
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special
The problem for Joe Root is the ball is going everywhere. It's crying out for a spinner. England got it wrong at Lord's and I can't believe they got it wrong again.

New Zealand started the morning 74 behind.
They've got to drinks, after the first hour of play, just 11 behind.
Safe to say that hasn't gone to plan for England...
Mark Wood is replacing Stuart Broad.
After one ball umpire Richard Kettleborough is already talking to him about his follow-through.
This has all the hallmarks of a long, and quite frankly horrid, day for England.
Example A and B.

Taylor is driving the ball immaculately this morning.

England are getting frustrated here. Twice James Anderson asks umpire Richard Illingworth to check the ball. Twice he throws it back.
It will go out of shape if you keep letting Ross Taylor thump you back down the ground and through the covers, Jimmy.
Taylor and Henry Nicholls have put on 57 this morning now - only 44 of them have come off the bat. There have been 13 extras in 55 minutes of cricket. Not good enough.

Francis Edwards: Is James Bracey actually a cricketer? I don’t follow county cricket outside of Worcs playing. Are we sure he’s not just a mascot who won a prize to play in the team? I’m not sure he can keep and he can’t bat that’s for sure.

Short from Stuart Broad and again there's a little bit of extra bounce and wobble after it passes Ross Taylor and James Bracey can't gather, resulting in four more byes. That's 13 in this innings now. That's not ideal when you've only got a score of 303 on the board.
I wonder what is going through Bracey's head. He said before the series, as did Joe Root and Chris Silverwood, that he was ready for Test cricket after spending long periods of times in the bubbles in the last 12 months. He doesn't look ready, sadly.

Busy morning on and off the field. There is a group of Fred Flintstones, some lobsters and Geri Halliwell in the Hollies Stand. For all the activity there, it's as lively on the field. New Zealand will be ahead before too long.

This new ball has done next to nothing for England so far.
Stuart Broad has been saying this batch doesn't until it is 10-12 overs old, so England will be thinking there's still a chance, but the deficit may be all but gone by that stage.
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special
I wouldn't put that high on the agenda.

And what about bowling?
