A bit of a taste of his own medicine for Tymal Mills there.

  2. wicket

WICKET Mills b Milnes 6published at 18.5 overs

    Sussex 146-9 need 23 in 7 balls

Just a leg side single for Will Beer.

Tymal Mills has to swing surely?

He's done by a slower ball and loses his off stump.

Really clever change-up from Matt Milnes.

  3. Sussex 145-8published at 18.3 overs

    Need 24 in 9 balls

Matt Milnes for the penultimate over.

Just a dab and go leg side first ball from Will Beer.

Tymal Mills then steers four backward of point and cramped up takes a single to leg.

  4. Sussex 139-8published at 18 overs

    Need 30 in 12 balls

An outside edge from Tymal Mills lands just short of short-third man.

Will Beer then cramped for room and takes one to leg.

You'd imagine that is the last of the hopes for Sussex Sharks.

Chris Jordan can bat, can hit a big ball but he's skied that and now it's looking like an uphill battle.

  6. wicket

    WICKET Jordan c Bell-Drummond b Klaassen 13published at 17.3 overs

    Sussex 136-8 need 33 in 15 balls

Fred Klaassen with his penultimate over.

Short first up and Will Beer pulls past mid-on for four.

Then nudges into cover to get Chris Jordan back on strike.

Jordan tries to slug into the pavilion but gets nowhere near the contact needed and holes out.

    Surely game now.

  7. 6 runs

    Sussex 131-7published at 17 overs

    Need 38 from 18 balls

    Grant Stewart back.

Chris Jordan pokes two past point to begin the over.

Then pulls off a bottom edge for only one.

Will Beer eats up a dot but then dabs and goes for a single.

Jordan back on strike and gets a length ball to blast over midwicket!

Serious hit this and just what the over needed.

Stewart past the outside edge final ball. Good comeback.

  8. Sussex 121-7published at 16 overs

    Need 48 in 24 balls

Still Chris Jordan there for Sussex.

He tucks a single to keep the strike.

  9. wicket

WICKET Garton c Stewart b Milnes 41published at 15.4 overs

    Sussex 119-7 (Target 169)

    George Garton again.

He picks up a leg stump half-volley over deep square for his third six.

Hitting it very nicely so far.

But then slices one from off stump that's just carried to short-third man.

A really smart low catch from Grant Stewart.

Is that the game for Kent?

    Kent 168-8, Sussex 112-6

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

Somerset were in just as big a pickle as this earlier but it's really hard to believe there's going to be a repeat.

And the subdued mood of the Edgbaston crowd seems to bear that out.

The Sussex ton just came up with barely a murmur of appreciation.

The followers of Kent and Somerset, you feel, are round the back refreshing their collective larynxes for the first-ever Hop pickers-Cider boys final!

  11. Sussex 112-6published at 15 overs

    Need 57 in 30 balls

Matt Milnes back and some pressure on Kent for the first time.

Still plenty of runs to play with though.

  12. 'It's not unthinkable'published at 17:05 British Summer Time 18 September 2021

    Chris Woakes
Birmingham Bears and England all-rounder on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

While Garton is there and playing shots like he is, you never know - but he still needs to do something pretty special from here.

Five overs ago, they needed 10 an over and with five overs to go they need an 11 over, so it's not unthinkable or unimaginable it could happen.

  13. Sussex 112-6published at 15 overs

    Need 57 from 30 balls

Qais Ahmad's last over and George Garton tries to swing leg side and gets a top-edge past short-third man for four.

And then swings down the ground just inside long-off running to his left for four more!

Last ball of the over, full toss, and Garton swings it out of the park!

It's way back over midwicket and Sussex are alive all of a sudden.

Robert Graham: Just to add an element to this stunning crowd catch from earlier, Tom Abell and the catcher (James Rimmer) were in the same year as each other at University of Exeter and played first team cricket with one another.

Is this true, James Rimmer, if you're reading? Wouldn't be a surprise with that one-handed catch! Get in touch via #bbccricket

  15. Sussex 96-6published at 14 overs

    Need 73 in 36 balls

    Lovely from George Garton.

A classic cover drive, no-one back there at the moment, four.

Can Garton mount a charge here?

  16. wicket

    WICKET Ward c Bell-Drummond b Leaning 21published at 13.1 overs

    Sussex 89-6 need 80 in 41 balls

Harrison Ward tries to go up over the offside but gets nowhere near enough on it and is easily taken at long-off.

A brief innings but much more needed for Sussex to have a chance.

  17. Sussex 89-5published at 13 overs

    Need 80 in 42 balls

Qais Ahmad is back and he varies flight and pace well for an over that concedes only two from five balls.

Until George Garton goes low and sweeps hard over deep square for six.

Very nice strike and badly needed to just keep Sussex above water.

  18. Sussex 81-5published at 12 overs

    Target 169

Just a hint of something here for Sussex.

George Garton goes on the reverse and scoops one over short-third man for four.

But also three dots in the over and it's another good one for Kent.

You look at the score and say every day of the week that Kent are cruising to victory.

But after what we've seen in the other semi-final, anything can happen.

  20. Sussex 75-5published at 11 overs

    Target 169

Darren Stevens back and a length ball is slapped over mid-off first ball for four by Harrison Ward.

He goes again over the off side and gets this wide of long-off who had been pushed back.

Much better over for Sussex but much more needed.
