Jhulan Goswami is given the final over before lunch.

The TV cameras pan to a fan in one of the flats overlooking the County Ground. He looks slightly deflated as he stands next to the India flag.

And this won't help his mood, Sophie Dunkley plays a stunning drive straight back past the bowler for a boundary. Middled.

    And that's lunch.

This is ominous for India now - they have spent a day and a half in the field and have a lot of runs to make up.

    Dunkley 62, Shrubsole 15

Four more brings up the England 350. Vastrakar goes short and Shrubsole easily swats through the leg side.

Despite the loss of a couple of wickets in this session, it's looking far too easy for the hosts out there.

We'll get one more in before lunch.

Sophia Dunkley has earned the right to take easy runs here, but Anya Shrubsole shouldn't be given easy runs and opportunities to turn over the strike.

It's too easy for England to rotate the strike here.

Another change in the bowling as India T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur turns her arm.

The off-spinner manages one delivery before another conference between captain and bowler.

England are in the single market, five from as many balls, before Dunkley leans back and punches Kaur through extra cover for four.

I captained Sophia Dunkley at Middlesex in her early years when she was a burgeoning teen. We talk about potential a lot but she was opening the batting for us aged 14, and winning matches for us - particularly in T20 cricket. I couldn't tell you how further she can hit the ball than me. It was a sense of patience. She needed to understand how to build an innings - going from T20 to one-day cricket for instance. Seeing a century she got earlier this year, I was so impressed with the way she went about it. She knows her game very well. Seeing her mature is amazing. I feel like a proud Mum.

Shrubsole shows her batting credentials by opening the face of the bat and confidently guiding the ball through gully for four.

Vastrakar offers up a full toss which Shrubsole then fails to capitalise on, driving straight to the field in the deep.

    Five from the over.

I agree that Anya Shrubsole certainly can bat, but one of those stats that never seems to leave my mind is the fact that she once made a 47-ball duck in a Test match.

Just the single from Sharma's over.

Remember, this Test is a four-day game. Will a declaration be in the thoughts of England captain Heather Knight?

Meanwhile, Tammy Beaumont's mum is in the stands doing a spot of knitting. I'm not sure what you'll do with that information but thought I'd let you know.

  12. Eng 331-8published at 113 overs

Wide from Rana and Dunkley plays a brilliant cut through point for four. That was pure placement.

A single moves Dunkley to 56, as Shrubsole is off the mark with a streaky single through square leg.

I see Anya Shrubsole as a genuine all-rounder. She really can bat. Her job here will to get Dunkley on strike, of course, but if it's in her arc she should go for it.

Anya Shrubsole is the new batter in as Sharma completes the over.

Time for Dunkley to play some more expansive shots now?

Ecclestone has not made the most of that life, now she throws her head back in disgust as she tried to wallop that one. She was trying to get on with it, which is fine. It's what the game needs, it needs to get moving.

She's gone this time! Just two balls after successfully overturning the umpire's decision, Sophie Ecclestone slaps the ball straight to Shikha Pandey at mid-on.

Deepti Sharma has her third wicket of the innings.

Sharma has Sophie Ecclestone trapped in front of the stumps. The umpire shows little hesitance in raising the finger. Ecclestone reviews but doesn't look too optimistic.

Dunkley came in just as a couple of quick wickets fell last night, then she had to decide with her captain about whether she should review an lbw decision on 95. It was a tricky period but it's been an impressive knock.

Her placement in particular has been exceptional.
