Spin continues in the second over after lunch with Veerasammy Permaul.

Permaul offers plenty of flight as Foakes pokes into the off-side gap. Back-to-back maidens.

The England, West Indies and Antigua flags are fluttering away with the winds still in full force.

On the stumps from Joseph as Bairstow defends a maiden.

Jason Holder has some voice on him. The all-rounder belts out a huge roar of encouragement from the slips.

Ben Foakes and Jonny Bairstow touch gloves as they stride to the middle. After what can only be described as a dismal start to this Test by England, can these two continue with their hard work from the afternoon session?

    Alzarri Joseph to bowl.

It's been an old fashioned Test match innings. The ball dominated the first session and then it got easier with the bat.

Ben Foakes has looked very smooth, very easy, and scored at a quicker rate than the rest in conditions that suit his style of play

Jonny Bairstow is unbeaten on 39 with five boundaries, while Ben Foakes has batted well for his 21 not out from 33 balls.

England should be happy with the graft shown by two elder stateman. They were in a precarious position at lunch and then they knitted together a partnership.

After a very slow and cautious start, Ben Stokes started to score a bit more freely. He and Jonny Bairstow put on 67 for the sixth wicket before Stokes was bowled by Jayden Seales for 36.

Thanks, Matt. I'm pretty sure we can call this a fightback from England. The tourists scored 88-1 in the afternoon session.

It says a lot that we class that as a good session for England.

Can they continue to fight back in the rest of the day? Kal Sajad will take you through it.

Jonny Bairstow is showing what a valuable player he is, no matter where he bats. He's always busy, always looking to score - here he's having to make the best of a bad situation

    Bairstow 35, Foakes 21

Ben Foakes, with two catchers around the bat, continues to impress by flicking the ball away for four in the final over of the session.

Overall it was better from England in that period. They lost Ben Stokes but from 57-4 at the start of the session they've done alright.

That over from Kraigg Brathwaite might be one of the most uneventful I've seen and I watched a lot of Australia v Pakistan yesterday.

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite is going to have a go with his part-time spin.

    Bairstow 35, Foakes 17

"Oh yes, Sammy boy," says wicketkeeper Joshua da Silva after a flighted off-break from Veerasammy Permaul. Da Silva's catch earlier to dismiss Zak Crawley really was brilliant. Ben Foakes would have been proud of it.

Another maiden. We're creeping slowly towards the tea break.

Foakes is more of a front-footed player, who plays very straight, so he looks the part in these conditions

Another tune on the steel drums greets the end of a Jason Holder maiden. My suggestion that this music is better than Sweet Caroline caused some disruption earlier. I am willing to die on this hill.

Good question Charlie. England are currently on a run of six Tests. It doesn't look like they're going to end that here.

There's very little to report from the first over of spin. A single is all that comes from it.
