  1. WI 352-8published at 143.0 overs

Even Chris Woakes, who has that 'I will run in all day for you skipper' attitude is starting to flag a little.

He drops a short one in and Nkrumah Bonner gets over the top of it and pulls for the ball for four.

That takes him on to 117 and past his career-best knock of 113 not out against Sri Lanka just under a year ago.

Kimchi Tom: Slating the pitch is one thing but so far eight of the West Indies batters have scored more than England's top three.

  3. WI 350-8published at 141.3 overs

    Lead by 39 runs

Jack Leach strays on to the pads of Nkrumah Bonner and he clips it of his legs for a single to bring up the 350.

  4. WI 349-8published at 140.4 overs

Chris Woakes has two slips in to Veerasammy Permaul, and goes round the wicket and short with his fourth ball after a few defensive prods.

Permaul has the time to rock back and pull it for a couple of runs just behind square.

Although there's a temptation to want to bowl at England again before the close, the chance to get yet more overs in the legs of their bowlers - especially with Mark Wood injured - is probably coming into their tactical thinking now.

None of West Indies' players have their whites on, and are all lounging on their balcony in training kit.

West Indies all-rounder on BT Sport

West Indies are not just setting up this Test match, but this series as well.

  6. WI 347-8published at 140.0 overs

A beleaguered looking Jack Leach bowling round the wicket to Nkrumah Bonner after drinks and the West Indies batter happily sees out a maiden.

Bonner, who has faced 306 balls today, is typically stoic. Iron willed. He's a man who wants to carry his bat here.

    Leach's 18th maiden.

    Thanks Harry.

This is how Test cricket used to be before the short form really took off isn't it? Where dogged determination often ensured greater reward than a cavalier approach.

It's been a long day in the dirt for England. Can they knock over the West Indies tail before the close?

Bairstow ends a disappointingly drab spell of cricket with a nice bit of humour.

To Permaul: "Shirt a bit small, or do you roll your sleeves up to show you work out?"

Permaul chuckles, letting his batting (or leaving) do the talking currently.

Dare say 140-man from the first innings Bairstow may have the last laugh here.

Timothy Abraham to try and tempt one of these two batters away from their trenches in Antigua.

    WI 347-8published at 139 overs

Overton asks for another catcher in the off-side. Bairstow joins the party dangerously close at silly point.

It would seem a decent catching option, Permaul popping many short balls aerially into gaps like he mistiming a pitching wedge.

Close fielder and batter enjoy a brief chat from their now very close proximity.

"Don't be shy of that drive ball Overrrrsss" calls Bairstow - the bravest fielder in this England side.

  10. WI 347-8published at 138 overs

A maiden over interspersed with the excitement of another unsuccessful review.

But as they keep being umpire's call, Joel Wilson cannot be wrong. Both sides still have two reviews each remaining.

    WI 347-8

Bonner went down to sweep Leach hard into the legside.

    He misses it, but...

Ball tracking is umpire's call on the wickets (again)!

    Talking of left-arms.

Jack Leach has a splendid left humerus, radius, ulna and the rest.

Joe Root sends an lbw shout against Nkrumah Bonner.

    Looks leg-sidey.

What England would give for another fit seamer right now..

Or a rapid elbow surgery for a Durham seamer?

Could Mark Wood bowl some left-armers?!

    Surely that's in his armoury?!

It doesn't seem fair to judge the bowling attack on this pitch. It's much harder to get tailenders out when your fastest bowler isn’t on the field.

That blasted elbow injury to Mark Wood is making Woakes, Stokes and Overton have to do a lot more of the heavy lifting work this evening session than Root would have liked.

Woakes has a deep cover to Bonner in order to get Permaul back on strike.

He survives another five balls, even keeping the strike with a single off the last.

This partnership reaches 16, and I thought I would be typing about England batters by now...

Jambarrell: It's all well saying Matt Parkinson would bowl better and Saqib Mahmood should be tried etc - I agree in theory...but the fact will be these bowlers are worse in the nets than those who have been selected. If anyone was tearing it up in the nets they'd be picked in a heartbeat.

Overton has Permaul hopping onto his back leg again, but his attempted pull shots into the legside evade any England fielder.

A lack of a chest guard is a brave move from the home side's number 10.

England are getting increasingly frustrated and desperate here.
