At the other end the latest installment of Alex Lees versus Kemar Roach continues as the West Indies quick reverts to back around the wicket.
His final ball is a beauty outside off stump which nips away which almost draws Lees into playing a drive, but the England opener keeps his concentration and holds back.

Joe Root's eyes lit up but he had to go some way to fetch that with a big stride in.
Alzarri Joseph is the new man, but he faces some pure batting class from Joe Root off his fifth ball.
Root gets himself well forward outside off-stump and drives gloriously through the covers for four. Alex Lees must be purring at the other end watching that.

Kraigg Brathwaite raised a smile when Aggers asked him yesterday what it was like 'playing an away game at home'. It's been reported that over 10,000 England fans have come over to Barbados for this match.
Alex Lees edges Kemar Roach's final delivery through to the slip cordon but he played that with soft hands and the ball drops short of Jason Holder at second.
All-rounder Holder scoops the ball off the turf and chucks it to West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite who prepares to make his first bowling change of the morning session.
Alex Lees with a nicely-timed crisp drive off Kemar Roach through mid-off. He's pierced the in-field nicely there, and that will certainly ease some of the butterflies in Lees' stomach.

The West Indies bowlers have the England batsmen where they'd like them at the moment. There's definitely more in the pitch here in Barbados than we had in Antigua, thankfully.
The ball-tracking shows the delivery from Jayden Seales would have climbed over Joe Root's stumps.
There's been a fair bit of bounce and carry in the pitch thus far so a little surprised that Kraigg Brathwaite has burned a review on that.
It's a fair delivery and no bat involved. Height might be an issue for the West Indies here.
Jayden Seales strikes Joe Root on the pad, and the West Indies slip cordon appeal in unison.
Original decision is not out.
Kraigg Brathwaite sends it up upstairs.

West Indies are making good use of the cross-winds. Roach is bowling a questioning line, but Lees so far has left him well. But he needs to be careful of the one that comes back in, like in Antigua.
Alex Lees squints his eyes and bounces his chin with Kemar Roach at the top of his mark. Reminiscent of Mike Atherton's pre-delivery routine. He's a picture of focus and concentration to the West Indies fast bowler.
Roach skips into the crease, over the wicket to the left-hander this time, and Lees shows him the maker's name.
A maiden from Roach. Rock DJ by Robbie Williams blares out over the PA system.

Chris Carter: Why doesn't Joe Root just open the batting? Cut out the middleman and all that...
Jayden Seales bangs it in short to Joe Root, and the England captain comfortably rocks on to the back foot and convincingly pulls him for four through mid-wicket.
"Rooooooot", is the bellowing cry from the crowd at the Kensington Oval.

Simon Collett: Zak Crawely is always one ball away from giving it away. Even when he is in form!
Kemar Roach a little bit loose again to Alex Lees with his fourth ball who nudges the ball through the covers for two.
Final ball of the over and Joe Root gently pushes Roach through the covers for a single to keep the strike. The England skipper is off the mark.

A huge round of applause from the travelling England fans for captain Joe Root as he once again comes out to bat early in a Test match.
Once again there's a strong cross breeze at this ground. It's not as strong as we had in Antigua, but will still help the ball move away from the right hander when batting at the Joel Garner end.
Jayden Seales angles one into new England batter Joe Root, who is drawn into playing a defensive stroke with the bat close to his body and sees the ball nip off the seam and just miss the outside edge.
A sigh of relief from the England captain and plenty of encouragement from the West Indies slip cordon.
Testing little period for the tourists with a bit of cloud cover over the Kensington Oval.

That was a disappointingly soft dismissal for Zak Crawley who was looking to leave the ball.
