  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.1 overs

    Crawley c Da Silva b Seales 0 (Eng 4-0)

A seven-ball duck for Zak Crawley, who is out to a nothing shot as he is caught in two minds about whether to play or leave.

The England opener attempts to withdraw his bat at the last moment but ends up hanging it out there for a split second too long and gets a feather on it.

Joshua da Silva dives to his right and gobbles up the catch. A great start for the West Indies.

  2. Eng 4-0published at 2.5 overs

Nowt given away by Jayden Seales as well in his first over.

Four slips in place for Kemar Roach to Alex Lees, who nervously looks at the bottom of his bat before glancing at the cordon.

Fourth ball and Roach strays on to the leg side and Lees with an effortless glance off his hips for four. Both he and England are up and running.

Shane O'Neill: Without their four best bowlers in this match, the batting line up will need to post a large first innings total.

  4. Eng 0-0published at 1.3 overs

A maiden to start with from Kemar Roach.

Zak Crawley takes guard on centre to Jayden Seales, with three slips and a gully in place for the tall Kent batter.

Seales is on the money, and presents a lovely seam position to get some nip and carry off the pitch. A hint of movement through the air as well.

West Indies will want to get into the contest. Kemar Roach will be buzzing - all the Bajan boys will love to be playing in Barbados.

I know Roach will be licking in his lips at bowling to left-handers. It will be interesting to see how Alex Lees leaves the ball. The first step for him will be getting past Roach, who will want to keep that stranglehold on him.

  6. Eng 0-0published at 0.2 overs

Alex Lees facing Kemar Roach, who comes round the wicket to the England left-hander as the strains of Jerusalem echo from the Barmy Army around the Kensington Oval.

Roach's first ball is full and slightly wide and Lees leaves it well alone before a tentative defensive prod to a straight one next up.

It's going to be a big Test for Alex Lees. He won't have experienced a bowler coming after him for an entire series before, but Kemar Roach will go again at him here. He knows he's going to come round the wicket, take it away from him and then go in to target the pads.

There's a large crowd in at the Kensington Oval, and will feel like something of a home match for England's players - the glorious weather aside - with the stands packed with fans who have made the trip over to Barbados.

We're looking at the pitch and it looks flat. Not quite as flat as the other one, but flat. It's a lovely day here, with a bit of a breeze blowing across the ground.

The forecast looks good at Bridgetown, Barbados.

We might have the occasional shower - as we did in Antigua - but nothing which should impact too heavily into the match.

Certainly the skies are sea sky blue, with a few wisps of cloud, and the Kensington Oval is largely bathed in sunshine.

England's new boys Saqib Mahmood and Matthew Fisher are Test caps 702 and 703, respectively, by the way.

James: Good luck to both Fisher and Mahmood. Imagine making your England debut in Bridgetown, Barbados. It doesn't get any better.

With Craig Overton ill, Matthew Fisher makes his debut ahead of Ollie Robinson, who it was felt posed too much of a risk having missed the Antigua Test with the same injury he had in Hobart.

It flared up during the warm-up match for this tour at the old Allen Stanford ground.

England are still hopeful he'll be able to be fit for the third Test in Grenada - he's currently on the outfield doing shuttle runs with Jofra Archer, and like in Antigua, will probably bowl during the lunch breaks.

West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite: "We would have batted first but hopefully we can get the benefit from a little bit of moisture in the pitch early on. Nkrumah Bonner led by example in the first Test, and we have do the same again. The guys are raring to go."

Brathwaite also dashed any talk of unhappiness in the West Indies camp regarding how long England stayed in the field on day five of the first Test, rather than shake hands on a draw.

"No problems," he added. "We are all good."

I was frenetic on my first ball of Test debut, so I can tell you there will definitely be some nerves for Saqib Mahmood and Matt Fisher.

Looking from the match perspective you would look at this pitch and think you want to be bowling on days four and five. But maybe getting out there and being among the game allowing you to settle in will be the best if you are making your test debut.

England captain Joe Root: "It looks a good wicket. We're going to have to play well - we saw in the last game that if there's a bit of moisture, the ball could move around. We want to start stronger than we did in that first Test.

"I'm very excited for both of Matthew Fisher and Saqid Mahmood. They are both very impressive young players and both excited. Craig Overton was ill overnight and felt he wouldn't get through the game."

Remember your first day at school? Uniform feels a bit starchy, your mother wiping a bit of dirt from your cheek, hoping your new classmates don't pick on you, wondering if the teachers will give you too much homework, the butterflies in your stomach...

Well, Saqib Mahmood and Matt Fisher might be feeling the grown-up version of the above as they prepare to make their England Test debuts against West Indies.

Mahmood comes in as a replacement for the injured Mark Wood while Fisher got the call relatively late after Craig Overton went down with illness this morning.

Welcome to day one of the second Test between England and West Indies from Barbados.
