    Brooks lbw b Mahmood 13 (WI 68-2)

The second ball of Saqib Mahmood's over and he's struck!

Mahmood darts one in at the pads of Shamarh Brooks who over balances as he attempts to work off his legs.

That variable bounce comes into play as he's struck in front and the umpire raises the finger to a celebrappeal from Mahmood.

Brooks quickly checks with John Campbell about a review but knows in his heart he's out and trudges off the ground.

Yes. Nothing to see here. Shamarh Brooks is well within his ground.

  3. Umpire reviewpublished at 21.5 overs

A glimmer of a run out chance as Craig Overton deflects the ball back on to the stumps after West Indies run two from a John Campbell pull shot.

It looks like a routine check as Shamarh Brooks looks comfortably home.

  4. WI 64-1published at 21.3 overs

Let's hope England take it that far, Jonathan.

A crisp drive down the ground by Shamarh Brooks down the ground of Craig Overton's third ball.

    Beautiful.

The variable bounce on this pitch is only going to get worse as this game continues. Not good news for the West Indies who'll bat last on this.

  6. WI 60-1published at 21.0 overs

Saqib Mahmood, with his long run-up, not tempted to follow Craig 'Bodyline' Overton into peppering the West Indies batters as he looks to follow Ben Stokes and keep it nice and full in search of wickets.

Two runs for Shamarh Brooks off that over. England starting to wrestle back a bit of the initiative as we edge towards to lunch.

    WI 59-1published at 20.0 overs

Next ball Shamarh Brooks drives Craig Overton for four through mid-on - that's the first real shot down the ground we have seen today.

Later in the over Overton gets one to climb into the ribs of Brooks who looks a little uncomfortable after being struck.

Overton on a one-man revenge mission for all the batterings England batters took in the eighties at the hands of West Indies quicks, perhaps?!

  10. ouch!

    WI 53-1published at 19.1 overs

John Campbell clocks another one on the lid from Craig Overton, who, it must be pointed out, is hardly express pace.

The left-hander again attempts to sway out the way, turning his head, and is struck on the helmet.

Once again he's fine. England have spotted something they can exploit here.

England have a bit more intensity and purpose now.

Saqib Mahmood dangles a ball outside off stump for Shamarh Brooks who waggles his bat tentatively but the ball does not clip the edge.

A maiden from Mahmood. England need to turn the screw now.

That was a nasty, well-directed short ball that didn't bounce as much as Campbell expected.

Campbell has decided to sway rather than duck given that the bounce on this wicket is unreliable, but he seemed to move late for that one, which did slightly follow him. He might have been better off trying to take it on.

    WI 52-1published at 18,0 overs

A vicious bouncer from Craig Overton has struck John Campbell on his helmet with the final ball of his over as the West Indies batter attempts to take evasive action at the last moment.

Overton is quickly down the pitch to see if his opponent is okay. Campbell is looks a little shook up but no injuries.

A change of helmet is required.

The wicket of Kraigg Brathwaite was like someone sat at a table at a restaurant desperately grappling around for their wallet or purse on the floor while attempting to maintain eye contact with their dinner partner.

That was an absolute shooter along the ground from Stokes, who didn't even appeal, it was so plumb.

Brathwaite is very much the wicket that England wanted.

    Brathwaite lbw b Stokes 17 (WI 50-1)

    England desperately needed that.

Ben Stokes' decision to keep bowling full has paid off as he gets Kraigg Brathwaite trapped in front lbw. Absolutely plumb.

The England all-rounder benefits from the variable bounce with a delivery which barely got up and left Brathwaite desperately jabbing his bat down but it struck him full on the pad.

Stokes grimaces shortly after taking the wicket, stifling his celebration, and immediately leaves the field at the end of the over.

John Campbell neatly works one away off his legs from Ben Stokes as West Indies bring up their fifty partnership off 99 balls.

All very flat out there for England in the field at the Grenada National Cricket Stadium.

England haven't been driven down the ground which tells you a lot. They need to challenge the West Indies batters a little bit more.

  20. WI 49-0published at 16.0 overs

Where now for England and Joe Root? They haven't look like taking a wicket so far. Jack Leach, maybe?

Craig Overton is handed the ball and his first delivery is too full and strays on to the pads of Kraigg Brathwaite who flicks it off his pads and down to the fine leg boundary for four. Easy as you like.
