Stephen: The purpose of DRS is for a team to overturn egregious errors. Root seems inclined to use it as a second chance at getting the batter out. And so he regularly runs out of reviews too early.

A defensive prod from Jayden Seales to Saqib Mahmood and the ball spins back towards the West Indies batter's stumps, but he is able to kick it away.

Seales, of course, a little fortunate still to be there after an lbw shout earlier which would have been out had England not burned all their reviews and been able to send it upstairs.

Saqib Mahmood continues and Joshua da Silva chips his third ball straight down the ground. He didn't quite time that but picks up a single.

Another slight delay as the physio comes on to take another look at his injured middle finger which is still causing him some issues. A bit of magic spray going on now.

Jim (14:18) believes it's ruthlessness that England have been lacking. For me, it's patience. Patience to bowl the correct length time and time again, without ego, without trying to force something. Let the batters make the mistakes.

England have struggled for a while to get rid of tails. There is no real difference to the attack, no express pace, no mystery spin and tailenders fancy their chances when the pitch flattens out somewhat.

The first ball of Chris Woakes' next over strikes Joshua da Silva on the hand and the physio is on to administer some treatment.

He's okay to continue, although he's still in a little bit of pain and shaking his hand between balls.

Saqib Mahmood is full with his next two balls, including a fifth-ball yorker, but Jayden Seales is equal to it.

Mahmood's sixth ball strikes Seales on the pad. England appeal for lbw but having burned all their reviews are unable to ask the question and it goes down as four leg byes.

The ball-tracking technology shows the ball was hitting the top of off stump and Seales would have been out if England had been able to review it.

Mahmood kicks the turf in frustration.

Saqib Mahmood has deserved his wicket. He's beaten the edge a few times this morning. Nice take from Ben Foakes, but we're still seeing balls keep low.

  11. WI 245-9published at 92.3 overs

Joshua da Silva said in an interview that Jayden Seales can hold a bat and he's looked more than capable to his first two balls from Saqib Mahmood.

The England quick bangs in a short ball third ball and Seales is able to sway out of the way to dodge the bumper.

    Yorker next...?

I make it that it is now 17 umpire decisions that have been overturned on review so far this series - in less than two-and-a-half Test matches.

Bat on it. Joshua da Silva survives.

Chris Woakes finishes the over with a dot ball so Jayden Seales will on strike for Saqib Mahmood's next over.

Has Joshua da Silva walked across his stumps one too many times?

Chris Woakes strikes the West Indies wicketkeeper on the bottom of his pad as he attempts to work a single off his pad.

He's given out on the field, but reviews immediately.

Saqib Mahmood has bowled very well this morning. Jayden Seales has a first class average of three, so I expect Joshua da Silva to start playing a few shots now.

Gone! Kemar Roach strangled down the leg side after getting a feather on a delivery angled across him by Saqib Mahmood.

The England fast bowler dug that one into the pitch and Roach was just trying to work it away, but Ben Foakes does well to take a diving catch to his left.

It is going to be difficult to get the final two wickets but the pitch may be flattening out. The long it goes on will worry England, but they certainly aren't out of this contest.

  18. WI 245-8published at 90.5 overs

Two awkward takes for Ben Foakes as Saqib Mahmood's third ball and fourth balls are full but there's no bounce and they shoot through low to the England wicketkeeper.

Mahmood is a similar length and straight with his penultimate delivery and Kemar Roach does well to dig it out.

    Variable bounce.

Arguably the best shot of a Joshua da Silva innings which has, in all honesty, largely featured him stepping across and maneuvering the ball to the leg side.

Chris Woakes is a touch to full with his fourth ball of the over and Da Silva stands tall before he caresses it straight down the ground through long-on for four. Terrific shot.

England's biggest failing in recent years is their lack of ruthlessness. Time and again they allow teams not only back into a game but into positions of strength.
