  1. WI 240-8published at 89.0 overs

    Lead by 36

England have spread the field to Joshua da Silva with just two slips in place.

The West Indies wicketkeeper is delivered a full bunger second ball by Saqib Mahmood and Da Silva's eyes light up, but he's unable to punish it and a thick edge dribbles to second slip.

More attacking field for Kemar Roach but Mahmood strays on to his hip and is worked for a single off the final ball to keep the strike.

This is a key day. England need to wrap this innings up as soon as possible, with every run absolutely priceless. Once batting, they need to see off the new ball, not lose key wickets, and get to that passage of play where the ball gets really soft and runs are easy. It would be handy to have some top order batsmen still there for that period.

  3. 236-8published at 88.0 overs

    Lead by 32

Chris Woakes, not a hair out of place on his head, drops one a little short to Joshua da Silva who is able to get over the top of the ball and whip it through mid-wicket.

Dan Lawrence with the kind of fielding on the boundary seen on village cricket clubs up and down the UK in the summer.

Lawrence scuttles along the rope and prevents the boundary by stopping the ball by plonking down his boot.

West Indies run three with Kemar Roach happy to block out the rest of the over.

    This game is beautifully poised.

West indies are unsure how many they'll get this morning but it is crucial this morning. It'll be a tricky balance captaincy wise for Joe Root this morning - trying to find that balance between attack and defence.

  5. WI 233-8published at 87.0 overs

    Lead by 29

Joshua da Silva nudges one through point for a single off the first first ball.

Saqib Mahmood is then nice and full to Kemar Roach, and there's a hint of swing and movement early on.

Roach has a two big wafts at Mahmood's last two balls which are a touch wider but does not make contact.

Saqib Mahmood has the ball in hand, and is going through some final loosening exercises. Joshua da Silva has just marked his guard.

The umpires have just called "play".

Joe Root will look at this series if it goes wrong and start to think if he is the man to take England forward as captain. Root might even wake up in a month's time and think to himself: "I don't want to be captain any more."

Interim England head coach Paul Collingwood on BT Sport: "I guess it is all poised. West Indies are slightly ahead but the pitch is changing all the time. If you can get the through the first 40-45 overs you can bat on this pitch for long periods of time once the ball gets soft. Both innings have proven that.

"It has been a great Test series - a hard fought one. Hopefully we can have a good day with the bat.

"Chris Woakes was good yesterday and I was delighted for him. He's a good lad to have in the changing room. His spell after lunch was fantastic and he showed good skills. He's an important member of our team - he's a leader.

"We don't want to look too far ahead. Strategically we want to get through the new ball - that's where the damage has been done."

Forecast looks set fair for today. Might be the odd shower but nothing which will seriously hamper play.

England need to get these two wickets and then get the bat in hand. If they have a bad day today they have lost the Test series. Today the batters are also going to be under a lot of pressure.

Cast your mind back to Lord's Test in August of last year and you can understand why there might be a bit of fog clouding Joe Root's thinking today.

If you can remember, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah had a right old laugh at England's expense. Two batting rabbits finished unbeaten on 56 and 34 as Root got his tactics completely wrong as India pulled off a famous Test victory.

We're still in the first innings here but with two wickets two take this morning the pressure will be on England's skipper, and his bowlers, to not repeat previous mistakes.

Welcome to day three of the third Test between England and West Indies from Grenada.
