Think it is fair to say that Joshua da Silva is a popular member of the West Indies changing room...

It was a good start from England getting the breakthrough, but they just couldn't finish it off.

The pitch has flattened out so you have to give England that as a semi excuse. The last pair were brilliant.

I'm sure people will be throwing things at the TV - there was a lack of imagination. Joe Root concerned me enough - I don't think he tried enough this morning, whether it was bringing him or Dan Lawrence on. You have to be energised as a captain - I didn't see enough of that.

Please can people stop suggesting Eoin Morgan as an alternative to Joe Root.

For one, he's 36 this year. Two, he's got an extremely dodgy back. Three, he's not played red-ball cricket in almost three years.

Morgan has done an extraordinary job as white-ball captain, but he's never EVER going to captain England in a Test. Get over it.

England are going to have to bat extremely well. That's a very big lead in these conditions. They've got to get through the new ball and then work out a way of scoring runs against this very soft ball.

The morning didn't go their way at all - Seales should have been given out when the lead was only 41, but they'd used up all their reviews.

The umpires again have had a poor day. I'm not defending Overton - you should never throw a ball at a batsman, but that's one of the reactions you get when the umpiring is so poor. I expect Overton will be in the referee's room tonight.

    Thanks Tim.

That was quite the first session - plenty of Joe Root bashing, some poor umpiring, some comical moments but a brilliant maiden Test century from Joshua da Silva.

Here's a bit more about the West Indies keeper from before the series again - including about his time playing in the Surrey Championship. Have a read.

Well, a frenzied finish to a session which plodded along for most of the time. West Indies put on 120 for their last two wickets.

I need a quick breather and a cup of chai tea (it's refreshing, don't @ me). My colleague Callum Matthews is on hand to talk you through the lunch break and England's second innings.

Lunch should have been taken at 16:00 GMT, but it was extended because there was just one wicket to be taken.

I've never seen that before that. It just shows you how exciting this Test match is! But it was a brilliant hundred! He deserves it. He's played exceptionally well for this team and marshaled the lower order with quite a few partnerships.

I have never seen anything like that in my life with Joshua da Silva walking off thinking he's hit it and then recalled on a review. That was also the 18th decision that's been overturned on review so far this series.

Centurion Joshua da Silva talking to the host broadcaster: "The emotions told it all - tears came to my eyes instantly. It means the whole world - thank you to everyone who has supported me.

"My parents have supported me 100% and have always been there. I couldn't quite do it in Barbados but I'm sure they've watched it on the TV and are very happy.

"I wanted to trust my tailenders - without them I couldn't do it. all the credit should go them - i just did my part.

"I thought I'd hit it then! I just reviewed it for reviewing it sake! I'll take the not out for he average - it will take a lot."

Seales c&b Root 13 (WI 297 all out)

A feisty Craig Overton over comes to an end before Joe Root gets the job done by dismissing Jayden Seales with a return catch.

Seales chipped it back to Root's left and the England skipper sticks out his left hand and holds on.

Joshua da Silva strolls off the field with an unbeaten Test century to his name.

West Indies all out for 297. A lead of 93 runs. England have it all to do, now.

A bizarre morning turns to farce.

Everyone bar the umpires is making their way off the field but the technology shows Joshua da Silva has not got any bat on it.

Da Silva cannot quite believe it. He sheepishly makes his way back on the field along with some rather irritated England players.

At least we know he's a walker!

Joshua da Silva walks off the pitch thinking he's hit it.

England's players join him. But we're still waiting for a review after Da Silva speculatively called for it...

He backs away to Craig Overton and clubs it down the ground to bring up his three figures.

    Well batted.

Joshua da Silva backs away to his second ball and slaps him for two through point to match his Test best, and he eclipses it with four biffed through mid-off.

Four runs away from a maiden Test hundred now.

Jayden Seales reaches his highest score in first-class cricket and he does it in style, shuffling down the pitch before whacking Jack Leach back over his head for a big six.

    He got plenty behind that.
