Jayden Seales back into the attack. He picked up the wicket of Zak Crawley earlier, after a good grab by Jason Holder.

Seales eases himself into this spell before his penultimate ball climbs into Jonny Bairstow's groin area. The Yorkshireman chuckles.

    England hanging in there.

Kyle Mayers, is the trundler Derek Pringle is referring to. I do wonder how much of that type of bowling Joe Root, and England's other central contract players, face these days.

Jonny Bairstow reduces the deficit with a crunching shot through point off Alzarri Joseph's first ball and picks up a single two balls later.

Kemar Roach with another menacing delivery from the round wicket which beats the bat of Alex Lees yet again.

Jonny Bairstow with a few words of encouragement from the non-striker's end along the lines of "hang in there, Alex" after Roach's fourth ball.

Roach backs it up with two more dots. A maiden.

Lee Payne: Eoin Morgan is definitely not the answer to England's Test woes. The trouble is, there are genuinely no outstanding candidates for the captaincy. Joe Root is a reactive, rather than proactive, skipper and not the sort of person who will read the riot act when it is required.

  6. Eng 51-4published at 25.0 overs

Alzarri Joseph has touch of Curtly Ambrose about his manner and demure. Never really says a word to the batters and a serious look etched on his face nearly all the time. Takes his cricket very seriously.

He drops a short wide one to Jonny Bairstow with his fourth delivery and the England batter is able to whack it off the back foot through point for four.

Joseph beats a flashy Bairstow drive with his final ball of the over.

Kemar Roach, who has been miserly so far, is purposefully running in and grunts as he fourth ball is right up there at the business end to Jonny Bairstow.

However, his final delivery gives Bairstow enough to clip for a single off his legs.

My proposal as captain is a young batsman, definitely good enough to bat for England and with a few years’ experience of actually skippering a top first-class cricket team: Tom Abell. Root’s a top batsman but awful captain, especially of spin bowlers. Failing that, we’ll happily have Jack and Cove back in Taunton where they’re properly appreciated.

Fast and aggressive from Alzarri Joseph as two out of his first three balls get Jonny Bairstow bobbing and weaving like a boxer in the corner of the ring.

He's consistently been the quickest of West Indies' bowlers in this series, but Bairstow is able to see out the rest of the over without much alarm.

England could do with a quiet period of not much happening as they rebuild.

I personally feel like Joe Root is still the right person to captain England.

He's playing very well so I don't see a reason why he couldn't continue if he wants too. There is no obvious alternative too.

Four dots from Kemar Roach then a beauty to Alex Lees which beats his defensive prod outside the off stump.

A streaky drive from the left-hander gets him a couple.

Strong words from Michael Vaughan. Anyway, Kemar Roach is at the top of his mark and Alex Lees is on strike as begin the evening session.

  13. 'I fear this is Root's last Test as captain'published at 19:01 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Michael Vaughan

Joe Root is frazzled. I think you can tell that from both dismissals - today's was a tired shot.

I fear this could be his last Test as captain. You can see in his face that this could be the end for him.

Let's face it too - he's won one of his last 17 Tests. That's not a great ratio.

The players are back out in the middle in Grenada and it is time for England to dig deep and try and drag this game out and then potentially pull off something remarkable. Two partnerships and the game looks very, very different.

  16. 'Crawley will have to change to survive'published at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BT Sport

If Zak Crawley wants to survive at this level he'll have to change. He'll have to change his technique.

If I was to work with him I'd draw a big circle around him and say he can't play the drive unless it bounces in that circle. He is just throwing his hands at the drive.

He is a talented player but talent only gets you so far. He's got to work out mentally a bit more.

  18. 'England's batters will be wishing they could go again'published at 18:50 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

    Jonathan Trott
    Ex-England batsman on BT Sport

It hasn't gone England's way. It's been good bowling but there's a few batters wondering about their shot selection and wishing they could go again. England needed to wear the bowling down.

Kyle Mayers has figures of 3-7 from seven overs in the second innings so far. That's to go with his 2-13 from 10 overs in the first.

He's having some game. He's got Joe Root twice and Ben Stokes once. He's getting very good players out.

  20. 'Mentally England are not good enough'published at 18:47 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

Excellent from Kyle Mayers who has just got it wobbling about. Not loads, but enough. Mentally England's players are not good enough. The pressure has got to them.
