  1. Ind 10-0published at 3 overs

    Mandhana 4, Verma 6

A bit of luck for Shafali Verma who just clips a short-ish delivery from Brunt off her hip - it goes in the air but safely trickles away for a single.

Mandhana has played some lovely drives this morning but most of them have found the fielders.

Shafali Verma just times the ball so well. Anya Shrubsole just missed her length a little bit.

Verma is just fearless, she just plays her shots. It was an exceptional shot.

  3. Ind 8-0published at 2 overs

There's that beautiful Verma timing that we've seen so much of in the past week. She plays watchfully until Anya Shrubsole just goes a bit too full and she threads it perfectly through a diving mid-on and midwicket for the first boundary of the day.

These two sides have played 29 times in ODIs in England.

England have won 22 times and India five.

I think we need to set a rule today that I talk about my 'speccie' catch at least once every 13 overs.

I'd had a pretty quiet day until then. It was a bit of a fluke I can't lie. I loved that I stood up arms stretched to an empty crowd.

If you haven't seen it please watch it, and tell me how good I am at cricket.

  6. Ind 3-0published at 1 over

The battle between Katherine Brunt and Shafali Verma continues, but gets a tame start as the batter clips a single to mid-wicket. We gathered in the Test match that she's not really a fan of singles.

  7. Ind 0-0published at 0.1 overs

And also unsurprisingly, Katherine Brunt opens up for England. She starts with a full toss to Mandhana, driven up to mid off for no run.

The players make their way to the middle. Unsurprisingly India retain their opening partnership from the Test, Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma.

They certainly are a pretty formidable duo but they won't have played in conditions like this too many times!

Most of the India team will be happy that they are in the changing room with their hands around a hot chocolate, being out there in these conditions is not comfortable!

If they can get through the first seven or eight overs it might not be a bad toss to lose.

It was looking very bleak, but it is dry for now. The weather looks alright for now, it looked worse last week.

So just a reminder, this is a points-based series across all three formats, so England and India currently have two points each because of the drawn Test.

There are three ODIs and three T20s to come, each worth two points.

England captain Heather Knight on Sky Sports: "The overhead conditions suit our bowlers well and with rain around it's nice to know what you're chasing.

"The forecast doesn't look great, there was a lot of looking at breakfast. We have to assume we'll play a full game, and hopefully our bowlers can make the most of the conditions and get some swing.

"We had a few days off after the Test match, but the mentality of the group impressed me in the Test match, always looking to take the game forward, and that mentality will be the same today."

  15. England win the toss and bowlpublished at 10:42 British Summer Time 27 June 2021

Hardly surprising given the conditions - it looks very grey overhead in Bristol with the potential of some stopping and starting again.

We have ODI debuts for two of the stars of last week's Test - England's Sophia Dunkley and Shafali Verma for India.

    Good morning!

We've just about got over the excitement of the women's Test, so it's now time for some white-ball action.

Believe it or not, this is the first time England and India have played in an ODI since the 2017 Women's World Cup - and we all know what happened then!
