You could barely have a wash in this shower.
The umpires are still out in the middle but I'm not sure there's much they can do when lightning is flashing through the sky.
The covers are on and spectators are starting to leave.

It's started to rain.
Glenn McGrath
Ex-Australia bowler on BBC Test Match Special
That was a massive bolt of lightning, perfectly timed.
Never thought I'd have to type that headline, to be fair. That was bonkers.
I suspect that might be it for the day.

What would have happened if he'd nicked it?
Wow! A lightning strike has literally just flashed so brightly and quite low, that it's distracted Dawid Malan as the ball is coming down.
He waves his arms in disbelief. Never seen that before!
Here's the first wicket to fall, that of Rory Burns in the third over. He made four, so at least that cancels out the overthrows he gave away earlier.
Malan 1, Root 4
Jhye Richardson finally concedes a run in his fourth over. He's not taken a wicket yet but has done a fine job in building the pressure on England that led to the departure of both openers.

At this stage they may as well just make Root and Malan the openers.
Jon
Michael Neser couldn't have asked for much better on his Test debut.
Is anyone surprised that England are 15-2?
Joe Root comes to the crease with some drizzle falling, a fired up Australia attack and - of course - both openers out with barely any runs on the board.
He must be so fed up of this.

It just shows how the luck can go. Australia had a fair bit of it. Hameed has hit it like a rocket, but it's straight at mid-on.

His second ball in Test cricket gets a wicket!
Hameed c Starc b Neser 6 (Eng 12-2)
Well that's not an anti-climax! Michael Neser has a wicket with his second ball in Test cricket and it is a soft, soft dismissal.
It's a fairly standard delivery and Hameed clips it straight to mid-on for the simplest catch you will see.
Michael Neser is on for his first bowl in Test cricket.
He gets to his delivery stride when Haseeb Hameed backs away for a bit of an anti-climax.
There are some very impressive lightning strikes flashing across the Adelaide sky.
That's three consecutive maidens now. Pressure.

I think it's raining.
Here's the moment Australia declared after Jhye Richardson was out to Chris Woakes.
Another maiden.
Was the Ollie Robinson no-ball to Labuschagne fiasco really this morning? Like this very same day? What a long day this has been. Can only imagine how England's bowlers feel.
