A lot of the England bowlers came round the wicket to the left-handers. In Australia I believe over the wicket is the better line of attack.
Malan negotiaties another testing Jhye Richardson maiden, but leaves the ball nicely on length.
It's still very noisy out there, from both Australia players and fans.
Dawid Malan is the new batter and he scampers a single to get off the mark first ball before Hameed drives elegantly to the cover boundary for three more.
I wonder how many more opportunities Rory Burns will get on this tour.

That catch went to Smith at stomach-height. So many of the edges from the Australian batsmen bounced in front of the England fielders. It's extra pace and the pitch at night has extra life.
Burns c Smith b Starc 4 (Eng 7-1)
Well.
Vintage Mitchell Starc. Quick, good length, extra bounce to find the edge and Burns can only watch the ball fall safely into Steve Smith's hands at second slip.
Somehow, it just felt inevitable.
An impressive first over from Jhye Richardson concludes by beating Haseeb Hameed's outside edge with a beauty.
Australia are buzzing, and England will do very well to get through this.

The Australians will be letting Burns know Starc is coming for him. There's no way that cordon of Warner, Smith and Labuschagne will be quiet.
Starc drifts on to Rory Burns' pads - very similar to the first delivery that bowled him on the first day at The Gabba - but this time the opener times it beautifully to the boundary.

It feels like whoever is in charge of the atmosphere at the ground has ramped it up a couple of notches now England are batting.
Mitchell Starc charges in but bowls very wide and Hameed can just watch it sail past him into Alex Carey's gloves.
Staying positive, this is a very good opportunity for England to cash in against an attack without Hazlewood and Cummins.
Hameed and Burns make their way to the middle followed by an Australia contingent with a spring in their step, unsurprisingly.

John Petrie: With Cummins and Hazlewood out of the attack, no excuse for England not to put a good score on the board and bat through day three.
You've got to feel for England's bowlers a bit. Ben Stokes, as ever, gave it absolutely everything. But Chris Woakes in particular looked like he was giving Australia throw-downs.

It's the way Australia would have wanted to play. The patience they showed yesterday allowed them to dictate terms today.
Well, that was ... interesting. How valuable will those lower order runs from Starc, Neser and Richardson prove?
Australia couldn't have asked for much better. They'll be licking their lips at the prospect of England's fragile top order under lights with a new ball, and who can blame them?

Since tea Australia added 83 in 10 overs.
No Lyon. England's misery finally comes to an end as Steve Smith calls the players in.
There are some very tired bodies out there and they've now got to negotiate Mitchell Starc with a pink ball. Savage.
Richardson c Buttler b Woakes 9 (Aus 473-9)
Jhye Richardson goes for another heave but can only tickle an edge through to Jos Buttler off Chris Woakes.
Is that it or will Nathan Lyon come out to bat?
Woakes attempts a slower ball and is greeted by the flashing blade of Richardson as he nails it into the stands.
