Chris S.Dixon: That news about Root is difficult to 'stomach.' From an Englishman living/working in Bangkok.
Poor Joe Root's time in Australia is getting worse by the day.
As we have said he took a bad blow to a delicate area when receiving throw downs before play. He had to got to hospital for a scan and did not take to the field at the start of play.
When he did return he looked sore...

I'll start with the caveat of England were always going to lose this Test after their performance yesterday but what happened in the back end of that session?
Australia lost three wickets for seven runs at the start.
Travis Head then came in, England started banging the ball in halfway down, Ollie Robinson bowled some spin and the ball was smashed to all parts.
Australia scored 14 for the loss of three wickets in the first hour. They scored 75-0 in the second.
That all clear? Utter chaos.
Good morning. Just waking up or perhaps rolling over and checking the score in bed? Well... it has been quite the morning.
Firstly, there was an injury scare for Joe Root before play. He was hit in the unmentionables in the warm-ups, did not take to the field at the start and had to go for a scan.
Then, in a crazy first hour, England took three wickets for 10 runs with the action relentless.
James Anderson bowled nightwatchman Michael Neser for three before Jos Buttler took a blinding catch off Stuart Broad to see off Marcus Harris for 23.
Buttler then put down an easier chance the very next ball which would have seen Steve Smith go for a first-ball duck and Smith survived the tightest of lbw reviews on the next delivery.
Smith didn't stay for too long, however, as he gloved Ollie Robinson down the leg side for six - this one a fine catch from Buttler.
Since then Root has returned to the field - given the all clear but very sore - but with him unable to bowl we have seen Robinson bowling spin.
After bowling brilliantly in the first hour England conceded 75 runs at more than five runs per over in the second.
Oh and there's been a Covid scare in the media centre at the ground which means if you are listening to radio commentary at the top of this page it will be coming via our ABC colleagues in Perth.
Right, I am off for a lie down after all that but I will hand over to the voice of reason that is Matt Henry!
Labuschagne 31, Head 45
That's 10 off the last over of an all-over-the-place session that had a little bit of everything.
Labuschagne 28, Head 43
Wonderful timing from Travis Head as he clips the ball off his legs for four behind square leg.
Labuschagne 28, Head 38
Ben Stokes is out of sorts and Marnus Labuschagne pulls him through midwicket for another four.
Stuart Broad will bowl the session's final over.
But at the other end, Ben Stokes drops short outside off stump with his first ball and sees Travis Head swivel and smash him through the leg side for four.
Head then flips him over towards the square leg boundary, where Ollie Pope makes a brilliant save right on the rope. The throw is excellent too, and Labuschagne is only just home.
Labuschagne 24, Head 31
Stuart Broad gets Marnus Labuschagne playing and missing outside off stump again with a beauty. He really is a master of his craft, isn't he?
England's success this morning came from pitching it up, but that Ben Stokes over was back to the 'banging it in' mode.
But here is Stuart Broad, replacing Jimmy Anderson, for a couple of pre-break overs from the other end.
Labuschagne 24, Head 30
Not the best first over from the all-rounder, with a couple of no-balls, a wide and a hook for four from Head as the partnership goes past 50.
There's a bowling change, and it's the first sighting of Ben Stokes today.
Labuschagne 22, Head 23
That has to have hurt Root a bit given the abdomen injury that kept him off the field earlier on. Anderson then has Labuschagne playing and missing to conclude the over.
Close!
Anderson gets Labuschagne prodding off the back foot outside off, the ball is edged off the shoulder and flies just past Joe Root's right hand as the England skipper has to dive!

Ste B: Used to play against a very young Ollie Robinson in my youth and he was known for his spin back then.
Freddy Clode: When Ollie was at school with me up until 18 he was an opening batsman and bit part off-spinner - it was only at 18 when his mum met Paul Fabrace that he started bowling pace!!!
Fantastic insight there!
Labuschagne 18, Head 23
Six singles from that Robinson over - I wonder if Stuart Broad might be back on soon for the final minutes of this session?
