OK, here we go, the teams are back out, Nathan Lyon will bowl to Rory Burns and we're all set.

England are paying the price of their batting failure of yesterday. If Australia keep rolling over, they will win. It's as simple as that.

There's a good chance we'll see Lyon early in the session, causing problems for the left-handers. It will be important that England find a method to not let him settle.

There's been some defiance with the bat from England, though.

This is all just getting toooo embarrassing. Can see a total whitewash of this series. Batsmen just can't bat and players get out by stupid strokes. Sad days ahead.

I'd be hoping to bowl a few like the one that got Hameed next summer. Richardson forces you to play and if it hits the seam or bounces, there's a good chance it will take the edge. It was a good ball.

Thank you Matt, sterling work as ever!

Andy Zaltzman has just reminded us that Hameed's duck was the 49th by England this year. Ooooof.

You've got 20 minutes to prepare yourself for a session under the lights. Australia will come charging in.

Tim Oscroft will take you through it.

It's stating the obvious to say the next session won't be easy. Starc is the best bowler in the world under the lights. Cameron Green will be a handful. We've seen once you get through Malan and Root, wickets tumble.

  10. Tea - Eng 20-1published at 8 overs

40 minutes of batting, one wicket lost. Better than I was expecting...

  11. Eng 20-1published at 7.5 overs

Nervy moments for Malan who is hit on the pad. Australia beg and beg for the decision but the umpire is unmoved.

Ray: An England opener makes it into double figures... There must be a klaxon and special gif for that surely.

  13. Eng 20-1published at 7 overs

    Target 468

That cut shot took Rory Burns to 16, his highest score of the series so far.

No sign of Lyon yet. This could be the last over of the session.

  14. Eng 20-1published at 6.3 overs

Short and wide from Mitchell Starc and Rory Burns needs little invitation to help himself to four.

Will we see Nathan Lyon to the two left-handers before the break?

  15. Eng 16-1published at 6 overs

    Target 468

    This was entirely predictable...

  16. Eng 13-1published at 5 overs

    Burns 9, Malan 4

David Warner is yelling encouragement from the slips, beating his hands as he does. Starc thuds one into Malan's thigh pad and zips a couple more past the left-hander's edge.

    Clinging on.

Surely the definition of insanity should now be 'watching England bat over and over again and expecting different results'

Jack, hoping he's not going insane

  18. Eng 12-1published at 4 overs

    Target 468

Oh Dawid! England's number three drives his very first ball for the most glorious of fours. Just another 100-odd of those needed.

Malan sees out the rest of the over a little proddily for my liking.

Ryan Dilnot: England’s batting is nothing short of a shambles other than Root, Stokes and Malan the others just have no fight for their wicket
