Chris Pitts: Australia won’t need to bat again.

  3. Aus 363-7published at 120 overs

    Two singles end the over.

Australia have added 42 runs in nine overs since the resumption.

  4. Aus 361-7published at 119.3 overs

Usman Khawaja picks up three more with a lovely on drive, before Mitchell Starc slices over the covers for a couple.

It feels like Australia are starting to up the ante ever so slightly.

There's no guarantee that Usman Khawaja keeps his place for Hobart. But they have nine Test matches in Asia this coming year and he'll be in the frame for that.

This has been a long old slog for England in the field. Usman Khawaja has scored a hundred and given a headache for the Aussie selectors with Travis Head. Maybe there is some pressure on Cameron Green now given his struggles with the bat?

Another expensive Jack Leach over with eight runs coming off it.

Usman Khawaja brought up his 3,000th Test run in that over. He is the 200th men's player to do that.

I think England were appealing for caught behind there. They got a second chance with the lbw and didn't lose the review. Stuart Broad was close to his five-for there.

  9. Aus 348-7published at 118 overs

Stuart Broad has bowled really well so far. He's got 4-74 from his 25 overs so far.

It has been a frustrating series for the 35-year-old but surely we're not going to see him call it a day?

  10. Not outpublished at 05:39 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2022

Oh! It is umpire's call for height. It is just flicking the top of off stump.

England keep their review at least.

We're still waiting for ball tracking...

Right at the last moment they have gone for it. Part of the problem is Stuart Broad didn't go up for it. Are they going for lbw here?

  13. Postpublished at 05:38 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2022

There is a clear gap between bat and ball, but it may have flicked the pad on the way through.

But it looks too high to be out lbw. We're going to check, though.

  14. England reviewpublished at 05:38 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2022

Has Stuart Broad got Mitchell Starc caught behind?

It was a strange appeal - nobody really went up, almost as if they just thought oh, that's out.

Joe Root decides at the last second to send it upstairs.

  15. Aus 347-7published at 117.3 overs

    Shot!

Mitchell Starc beautifully dispatches Stuart Broad back through mid-off for his first boundary.

  16. Aus 343-7published at 117.1 overs

Oh! Stuart Broad has his hand over his mouth in despair.

He finds a little bit of extra bounce and squares Mitchell Starc up, but a leading edge drops well short of Haseeb Hameed in the covers.

Broad can't believe that isn't his fifth wicket.

  18. Aus 343-7published at 117 overs

Jack Leach again concedes five. Australia are just able to milk him, with so much ease at the moment.

This is looking like a good score already.

That delivery from Stuart Broad makes you wonder why he hasn't tried something similar to Usman Khawaja. It would just as tricky a delivery for a left-hander to face as well. He has almost bowled a little within himself to Khawaja. He should give him one of those short balls too.

  20. Aus 338-7published at 116 overs

Two more singles keep the scoreboard ticking along.

There's no sign of Australia going on the charge as of yet. That wicket of Pat Cummins will have halted their progress and plans somewhat.
