  1. Aus 101-6published at 39 overs

    Lead by 216

It felt a bit flat before that non-wicket and it has settled back into that fairly quickly.

Australia take four runs from the over and their lead is creeping up all the time. Is 217 to win already too much for England?

I make that the third time England have taken a wicket with a no-ball in this series.

No one means to bowl a no-ball, but it's also your job not to.

  4. Aus 97-6published at 38 overs

    Lead by 212

Ollie Robinson is nowhere near full fitness and his pace is down a little bit but he is still getting the ball to do things.

He cuts Alex Carey in half, and beats him on the inside edge. There is a brief, half-hearted, appeal from Sam Billings but I don't think it caught anything.

It's not the first time that has happened in this series.

That would have been a bonus wicket for England. It was a poor shot by Carey.

It's so tight. The stump camera shot does it. You can see the white line.

  8. Aus 97-6published at 37 overs

    Lead by 212

It is so difficult to tell, because the line belongs to the umpire. From stump cam it does look like a no-ball, so I would say that is a fair enough decision all told. It's sloppy from Chris Woakes, though. He had a wry grimace on his face as he walked back to his mark.

He has a little chat with Rod Tucker at the end of the over.

It would have been a real bonus for England. It was a drag on by Alex Carey by the way, after a quite frankly horrible hack across the line.

  9. Not outpublished at 04:56 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

Oh, no. The third umpire has decided that Chris Woakes has nothing the line.

Woakes has a little stare at the umpire Rod Tucker as he raises his arm out. But he seems willing to accept it.

Ben Stokes, however, can't quite believe it.

Two different angles give two different opinions. You don't want to be making this decision.

  11. Postpublished at 04:55 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2022

From side on it looks like Woakes has a millimetre or so behind the line, but from stump cam it looks like he doesn't.

This is going to a really tight call.

Daniel: Mark Wood is very quickly cementing himself as England's standout performer this series, we need to bottle his attitude and drive.

  15. Aus 91-6published at 36 overs

    Lead by 206

Oh! Beauty. Ollie Robinson finds a little bit of movement to slide one past the outside edge of a groping Alex Carey.

I wonder how Robinson is feeling mentally. Jon Lewis' public comments about his fitness and it needing to improve to stand up to the rigours of Test cricket were timed interestingly to say the least.

Here are the three wickets that England - all via Mark Wood - have picked up today.

  18. drinks break

    Drinks breakpublished at 35 overs

    Aus 90-6; lead by 205

Alex Carey will keep the strike after drinks with a drive out to deep cover. Carey and Cameron Green have put on 27 now. It has take the sting out of England somewhat.

The first 75 minutes has seen Australia had 53 runs and lose three wickets.

  20. Aus 89-6published at 34.2 overs

    Lead by 204

Well, within two balls it is goes from 196 to 204.

Alex Carey cracks away a floaty delivery from Chris Woakes, before driving a bit squarer for another boundary.

Joe Root puts a fielder out. He's wary of the runs at this point.
