That was a brilliant catch from Carey. It was right up there with the best of the series.

It's another wicket for the golden arm of Boland. Australia getting closer.

    Oh, wow. WHAT A CATCH!

That is magnificent from Alex Carey.

Chris Woakes has a big booming drive and a thick outside edge flies towards Carey, who takes a stunning one-handed catch high to his right. He caught it in the webbing of the glove.

It was an odd dismissal, but Woakes clearly just wanted it to be over.

  4. Eng 115-7published at 37.3 overs

If England lose today you won't have to see them play Test cricket for another 52 days down. That's a good thing at the moment.

Chris Woakes picks up four with a lovely shot through square leg.

I am glad we are being put out of our collective misery. Means I do not have wake up at 6am tomorrow checking my phone with fear, trepidation and worst of all hope.

    Target 271

Mark Wood gets off the mark with a drop and run into point, before he and Chris Woakes exchange further singles.

I really hope Wood tees off here and has some fun.

England have gone from 68-0 to 107-7.

They have lost seven wickets for 39 runs.

It keeps happening. Make it stop.

If for some reason you'd booked Monday or Tuesday off work to watch this game I'd get sending a text or email to your boss.

You'll be better off working and saving the leave. There will be no cricket (or least meaningful cricket) to watch.

Pope has got himself into a tangle. He's in no position there. A poor shot selection, trying to knock the ball around and get his innings going. But it was not the ball to do that.

Australia are cruising towards a 4-0 series win. The players know it. The fans know it. And England will know it.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 36.1 overs

    Pope b Cummins 5 (Eng 107-7)

    Bowled round his legs!

Ollie Pope shuffles to outside off-stump but misses with his flick and the ball grazes his thigh pad before crashing into the top of middle and leg stump.

    A pretty garbage dismissal.

Here's how Joe Root got out.

    Good luck playing that, skipper.

  13. Eng 107-6published at 36 overs

    Target 271

Chris Woakes sees out the remainder of Scott Boland's over.

You know when the game switches - the TV graphics have been saying how many more runs needed, it now says how many wickets Australia need.

Not a great shot. He's shaking his head. He knows he just pushed at that one and was early on the shot.

That shot and wicket pretty much sums up England's tour. Soft.

Billings has holed out in the softest possible fashion. England's dream of chasing this target begins to fade.

    Billings c Cummins b Boland 1 (Eng 107-6)

    Chipped straight to mid-on.

I don't know if this stopped in the pitch a little bit but Sam Billings is early on the drive and it is a very simple catch for Pat Cummins.

This could very much end today.

We've had flat dry pitches we can't bat on, we've had rain affected pitches we can't bat on and we've had green pitches we can't bat on, how much more proof do we need?

    Pope 5, Billings 1

Two singles and a leg bye from Pat Cummins' 11th over. He's still wicketless in this innings.

Based on the ball that got Joe Root out there will surely be other wicket balls before close.

Not enough has been made of England winning the toss and having the most favourable conditions. This just goes to show how poor England and their batting really is.

    James in London

  20. Eng 104-5published at 34 overs

    Target 271

Joe Root finishes the series with 322 runs from his 10 innings. He will be England's highest run-scorer and only behind Travis Head (357) and Marnus Labuschagne (335) in the whole series, so it hasn't been a bad one. That elusive century in Australia has evaded him again.

He'll turn 35 on the next tour of Australia. Sir Alastair Cook had retired from Test cricket by that age - there is no guarantee we'll see Root in Australia again.

Ollie Pope works a couple into square leg. This is a big innings for him.
