Jadeja has made himself into a good bat, hasn't he? Although New Zealand are only trying to get him out one way here with the short ball.

India lead by 106 runs
Rishabh Pant continues to play with inventiveness, reversing pulling the first ball of Neil Wagner's over for single down to third man. Ravindra Jadeja, meanwhile, is strictly orthodox at the moment.

Are there two more exciting players in the world than Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja?

New Zealand are interested in keeping this total down. Another wicket opens it up for them again.
Kyle Jamieson clicks up his 20th over of the second innings and it is maiden. He has a miserly 2-24 so far. Jamieson dangles the carrot outside off stump, angling the ball across Ravindra Jadeja with his first four deliveries. It's a fine setup by the New Zealander who then straightens one which surprises Jadeja and just misses the stumps. Fine bowling.

There were India fans on their feet in front of me applauding the lead reaching 100.

Rishabh Pant's style has been seen before, but he seems better at it than those who came before.
Neil Wagner, a fine exponent of the short ball, pings one in at Ravindra Jadeja who miscues a hook down to third man for a single. The more flamboyant Rishabh Pant receives a similar delivery and attempts an outrageous scoop shot, but is unable to connect and is left slumped in his crease before revealing a huge grin on his face.
The blonde hair of Kyle Jamieson catches the sun as he bounds in with that strong approach to the crease. He persists with shorter stuff, but slips a fuller ball in which Rishabh Pant punches for a couple of runs. Both sides just feeling themselves into this session.

Wagner can't pitch it up here because Pant will just thrash it.
Left-armer Neil Wagner round the wicket to the left-handed Rishabh Pant, who nudges a shorter delivery off hips for a single. Ravindra Jadeja yet to score after lunch. India's lead now up to a 100.

The most important thing for BJ Watling is that the injury doesn't affect his performance. He won't want to blemish his record in his last two hours of Test cricket by carrying on.
Rishabh Pant has a careful look at Kyle Jamieson's first ball, and then dances down the track to his next ball and swings wildly - without connecting. He pushes a quick single next ball to put the somewhat more circumspect Ravindra Jadeja on strike.
We're back under way in Southampton, Kyle Jamieson to Rishabh Pant.
You suspect wild horses wouldn't be able to drag BJ Watling off the field in his final Test.

Hmmm. Tom Blundell was doing warm-ups, New Zealand tweeted to say he was taking BJ Watling's place but Watling is out there with the gloves on after all.
New Zealand's players are stood with their arms around each other in an intimate huddle on the edge of outfield listening to some inspiring words of wisdom from Kane Williamson.
Six of New Zealand's players in their 2019 World Cup squad are in their XI for the World Test Championship final, incidentally.

Back-up keeper Tom Blundell us doing some drills at lunch. It looks like being a sad end for BJ Watling, forced off injured in his final Test.
