Oo-oo-oooo! This has caught fire. New Zealand are slowly getting their way through the batting line-up. Nerves are going to come into it.

  2. Ind 116-5published at 51 overs

It's like a T20 out there now as the batters scurry back for a two and almost every fielder on the pitch hares after the ball that Pant clips out on the leg side.

Jadeja is hit on the pad first ball, Wagner howls but nothing convincing. He gets off the mark with a two with a lovely drive out to cover.

    An eventful over!

  3. Not Outpublished at 50.2 overs

At first glance it looked to be going down leg, although Wagner gave a very hearty appeal.

And it is going down leg. Pant survives.

It is the worst possible dismissal apart from backing-up at the non-striker's end and being run out.

Half of the India team is back in the pavilion.

  7. wicket

    Ind 109-5published at 50 overs

    Rahane c Watling b Boult 15

It's another soft dismissal for Rahane as he gloves one down the leg side and it goes through to Watling behind the stumps. He will be furious with himself, especially as the ball before he unleashed a glorious cut shot for four.

There are still a lot of overs left today.

Pant is so dangerous. He has no fear.

Ajinkya Rahane wandered down the pitch in the middle of that over for a word with Pant. Pant turned to square leg and didn't even consider going to meet his vice-captain. He's going to do this his way.

  10. Ind 103-4published at 49 overs

    Rahane 9, Pant 21

Good entertainment for the crowd here - they'll be hoping Pant can keep going. He calmly prods the last ball of the over up to mid-on.

  11. Ind 103-4published at 48.4

It's all happening - again! Pant brings up India's hundred with another dart down the pitch to Wagner which he ends up miscuing down to third man.

He then takes a similar swipe at the next one, completely misses, and gets another visit from Rahane.

  13. Ind 99-4published at 48 overs

    Rahane 9, Pant 17

The usually restrained Rahane takes another big swing at a wide one from Boult, but he responds with a composed clip off his legs for two which is well-fielded by a sprawling Neil Wagner.

The ball balloons up from Pant's defensive shot, possibly off his pad, and Wagner rushes to get there but doesn't make it. Instead he uses it as a chance to have a word and another glare, and Pant gives a big grin in response.

A bit of an anti-climax in the end as it turns out to be a maiden.

You know you've got a good attack when you have Trent Boult as your fourth fast bowler used on a morning.

  17. Ind 97-4published at 46 overs

    Rahane 7, Pant 17

A change of bowling at both ends as Boult comes in to the attack, a bit of a relief actually because the height difference between Rahane and Jamieson was quite disconcerting.

Rahane takes a wild swipe at one outside off and is lucky not to edge that to the keeper. A bit more measured for the rest of the over as they take a single each.

Pant is such an exciting player.

  19. Ind 95-4published at 45 overs

Wagner is not happy with that. Pant prods a defensive shot back down the pitch and is greeted by a fiery stare and a mock throw back at him.

This could be some contest between these two.

  20. Ind 95-4published at 44.3 overs

    What a shot that is.

We get a glimpse of the Rishabh Pant we know and love as he charges down the pitch to Neil Wagner to thrash the ball past mid-off for four. He's played that just like a spinner!
