This is Kyle Jamieson's seventh over of the day. He has 2-6 with a dropped catch in the previous six.

  2. Ind 89-4published at 44 overs

    Rahane 5, Pant 11

Kyle Jamieson starts with yet another maiden after the break and Kane Williamson will want him to carry on for as long as possible, the way he's bowled this morning.

You would have to say, New Zealand over the whole game have had things go their way a little bit. New Zealand won the toss. They played all their seamers and the ball swung. They haven't played aggressive cricket. If anything they have been slightly defensive.

By using the bottom hand Pant has been able to control it and smear it slightly. It was as if the ball was fuller.

  6. drinks break

    Ind 89-4published at 43 overs

    Rahane 5, Pant 11

A remarkable shot to finish the over from Rishabh Pant as he whips one with plenty of bottom hand from outside off stump, and somehow gets four through mid-on.

    It's time for a drink.

Layeggbeforewicket: I don't understand India's approach. Suppose another wicket falls, then are Pant/Rahane followed by Jadeja and Ashwin going to draw this? India need to get to 120-run lead without losing another wicket.

  8. Ind 85-4published at 42 overs

    Rahane 5, Pant 7

India will want to see the back of Jamieson here. He keeps prodding away with his immaculate line and length for another maiden.

Just a reminder that we have 98 overs in the day today. We can play until 18:30 BST. The final hour will begin at 17:30 which is the point, theoretically, the captains could call it a day - if New Zealand haven't won by then, that is!

Nick: If there's an MVP of the World Test Championship then Kyle Jamieson must have it in the bag. 42 wickets @ 12 and 247 runs @ 49 in 7 matches. Not a bad debut eh?!

  11. Ind 85-4published at 41 overs

Southee has to forget that and focus on his bowling.

Pant plays a very strange shot, charging down the pitch and then goes for a defensive prod that he completely misses.

Rahane seems to give him a bit of a telling off there and Pant retreats back to his crease like a naughty schoolboy.

  13. dropped catch

Pant dropped on 5published at 40 overs

    Ind 82-4

The crowd roars as Rahane gets off the mark with a push for two through the covers.

Jamieson then beats Pant for pace, finds the outside edge and Tim Southee has dropped a relatively simple chance at slip. How costly could that be?

    This game is properly on.

  15. Ind 77-4published at 39 overs

Pant takes a risk immediately with a wristy dash outside the off stump that he manages to get away for four down to third man.

It's gone from a pretty tame start to everything happening at once. Can we go back to the dot balls for a minute just so I can catch my breath please, New Zealand?

I have been working out the numbers in my hotel room, trying to work out how this game can see a result - I didn't anticipate New Zealand actually bowling India out!

  17. Ind 73-4published at 38 overs

    Rahane 0, Pant 1

Rishabh Pant is at the crease and this could go one way or the other. He certainly can change a game very quickly and he takes a quick single from his second ball, just making his ground with a tumbling dive.

    New Zealand well on top.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 37.3 overs

    Pujara c Taylor b Jamieson 15

    And another one!

That is huge, and it's that man Kyle Jamieson again. Pujara just looking to play and then changed his mind to try and leave, he just got a bottom edge to Ross Taylor at slip.

    The crowd is silenced.

You can sense the tension in the crowd. India are under pressure here.

  20. Ind 72-3published at 37 overs

New Zealand are fired up now, darting about in the field, whereas the crowd has gone quiet.

Pujara takes just a single from Southee's over. You sense this is a very significant partnership for India now.
