  1. Afg 85-6published at 14 overs

Glorious from Nabi, timing a cover drive beautifully for four over the fielder inside the circle.

You sense he's the key to Afghanistan getting close to a respectable score here.

Rauf won't be happy with that delivery. There was width and even though it is a thick edge, four runs.

  3. Afg 80-6published at 13.1 overs

Pace returns in the form of Haris Rauf and his first ball flies away for four down to third as he offers too much width to Mohammad Nabi.

  4. Afg 76-6published at 13 overs

Gulbadin Naib is the new batter and he sees off Shadab's final ball. Final figures of 1-22 for the spinner.

That has been the story for Afghanistan. A few shots and starts but no-one has been able to go on.

    Najib c Rizwan b Shadab 22 (Afg 76-6)

Six and out! A familiar tale.

A lovely delivery from Shadab in reply to being hit for six, just drawing Najib forward and getting the edge through to the keeper.

  7. 6 runs

    Afg 76-5published at 12.4 overs

    Ah, a return to normality!

Najib gets down on one knee and swipes Shadab over the leg side.

  8. Afg 67-5published at 12 overs

A maiden! Pakistan are all over this now.

Ilyas: Afghanistan’s batting display reminds me of watching Hong Kong Sixes. At this level they can’t afford to do this against arguably the best bowling attack of the World Cup.

  10. Afg 67-5published at 11 overs

Another good over for Pakistan as Shadab concedes just two.

What do Afghanistan do here? Scrape through 20 overs or just have a swing and risk getting bowled out?

All five wickets have been almost identical. Slog, catch, out.

Rashid Khan can be dangerous but I think it is up to these two to bat the next five overs.

  13. Afg 65-5published at 10 overs

A wicket and a single from that over, a very good one for Imad Wasim and Pakistan. He's bowled his four overs and finishes with 2-25. A fine effort.

Halfway through this innings and it's all going Pakistan's way.

Disappointing. It was time to knock it around maybe.

It will be difficult to get to a decent total now.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 29 October 2021

    Janat c Zaman b Imad 15 (Afg 64-5)

Another attempted six and another catch taken.

Pretty average cricket, that. They'd just had a productive over with two boundaries but Karim Janat tries to plant Imad Wasim into the stands, only succeeding in gifting a simple catch on the boundary.

  16. Afg 63-4published at 9 overs

Four more, this time pulled backward of square and past the despairing dive of Hafeez on the boundary.

A productive over for Afghanistan - nine from it.

Afghanistan have freedom. They don't come in as favourites. I like the way they play.

  18. Afg 59-4published at 8.3 overs

And as I say that, Najib nails a reverse sweep for four. Classy.

  19. Afg 55-4published at 8 overs

After the chaotic start, Afghanistan are struggling a bit to get the ball away with the field spread.

But with four early wickets lost, it's about setting a platform for the end of the innings which is what they are attempting.

Afghanistan racked up an enormous 190 in their first match against Scotland but their openers failed to fire today.

Their tactic seemed to be 'Six or Nothing'.
