Martin Guptill looked in the mood early on when he hit this huge six off Bernard Scholtz, but his dismissal for 18 saw New Zealand's early momentum checked.

The last thing New Zealand wanted was to lose the wicket of Devon Conway. You don't want two new batters at this stage.

  3. NZ 91-4published at 15 overs

Namibia are flying through the overs here as they look to rush New Zealand.

There are just three singles and a wide off Gerhard Erasmus's third over - he is 1-8 so far.

Oh he is gone! Birkenstock didn't think it was even. The different angle made all the difference.

Conway run out 17 (NZ 87-4)

    Conway has gone!

It's a great bit of fielding by Erasmus and Birkenstock whips off the bails with replays showing Conway was just short.

I think he's OK there but it will need checking...

  7. Umpire reviewpublished at 13.6 overs

New Zealand look to pinch a second run off the final ball of Karl Birkenstock's over and Devon Conway is in a hurry.

Is this a run out? The umpires send it upstairs.

  8. NZ 82-3published at 13 overs

Glenn Phillips is next up and his first ball sees him play and miss with a waspish drive outside off stump.

Phillips does eventually get off the mark with a single off the last ball.

A bit of pressure building here for New Zealand?

Again, it shows how taking pace off the ball is key for Namibia. They are giving New Zealand something to think about.

Erasmus bowled that from well back, level with the stumps.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.1 overs

    Williamson b Erasmus 28 (NZ 81-3

Just as I say that - Williamson chops on!

The New Zealand captain goes for the slog sweep from outside off stump but can only get an under edge back onto his own stumps.

  12. NZ 81-2published at 12 overs

The tall Karl Birkenstock is next into the attack, with New Zealand knocking a watchful four singles off it.

These two batters are quietly getting going. Kane Williamson is 28 from 24 balls, while Devon Conway is a run-a-ball 15.

This is good batting from New Zealand now.

  14. NZ 77-2published at 12 overs

Kane Williamson is in the mood. The next ball he drives back down the ground for four.

15 off the over. Their most productive for while.

That's a good shot for six from Kane Williamson. He has stepped outside off stump, hitting against the spin, on a surface he is not comfortable on, and he hit it well.

  16. NZ 73-2published at 1.5 overs

    Pressure valve released.

That's a lovely shot from Kane Williamson as he strides forward to fetch the ball from outside off stump and power the ball over deep mid-wicket for six.

  17. NZ 63-2published at 10.2 overs

    Let-off for New Zealand there.

Kane Williamson drives down the ground and smacks the stumps at the other end.

Bowler Nicol Loftie-Eaton was millimetres away from getting a touch on the way through. If he had, then Devon Conway was way out of his ground.

  18. Postpublished at 10:45 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2021

Here is the second wicket to fall. A smart catch from Van Lingen running in from the boundary to dismiss Daryl Mitchell for 19 and leave New Zealand 43-2.

  19. NZ 62-2published at 10 overs

Skipper Gerhard Erasmus brings himself into the attack and New Zealand continue to deal in ones and twos, there has been just one boundary in the last four overs. Are they playing it safe to set a platform for a late charge?

They are 62-2 at the halfway stage.
