What a shot that is! Colin de Grandhomme is a beautiful player to watch.

James Anderson resumes his over and that is a lovely shot from Colin de Grandhomme, deftly flicking the ball into the onside for four.
That's the 100 up for New Zealand.

Matthew Parkinson will be the third person to make his Test debut as a concussion replacement.
The other two are Khaya Zondo of South Africa and Zimbabwe's Brian Mudzinganyama.
England are still a bowler light remember after Jack Leach suffered concussion so they will be keen to grab these two wickets quickly without asking too much of Anderson and Broad.
It will also give his replacement Matt Parkinson time to make it to Lord's. He is probably somewhere on the M6....
Change of ball klaxon! The umpires don't look happy with the shape of the ball so a fresh batch is brought out into the middle.
It's therefore the ideal time for everyone to have a drink.
Tim Southee played some wonderful shots in his lively innings - but this was not one of them.

There's that wonderful post-lunch buzz around Lord's now.
The sun is out and the famous old ground looks pretty full. One of the best sights in English cricket.
Watchful stuff from Ajaz Patel and Colin de Grandhomme as they share four singles off Stuart Broad.

I don't think the fact he might have hit it was on anyone's radar.
Oooh, the thinnest of edges!
Ajaz Patel survives and James Anderson has to wait for his five-fer.

It looked pretty close from up here.
Has it done too much? With it being given out it might just be clipping leg stump.
Jimmy Anderson traps Ajaz Patel in front and the finger goes up - but Patel instantly reviews.

It looks like there are some quite prominent footmarks already within 30 overs of the game. You wouldn't particularly say that Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson are heavy on their feet either. It looks like it was a fairly obvious bat-first wicket.
Small steps, Richard. Small steps.

I don't know why everyone is celebrating.... New Zealand have passed 70....which is probably too much for this England batting unit to replicate. On the plus, we would do well to lose by an innings here. #progress

Ajaz Patel is the next batter as Stuart Broad - still sporting the white headband - continues at the other end.
And that's just lovely. A classic drive through the covers from Patel to get off the mark with a boundary.
We haven't seen those sort of shots very often so far today.

It was a good partnership in the sense it drew some runs but England just need to stay patient and hold their nerve. They can bowl the odd bouncer but they just want to bowl their best ball.

James Anderson has bounced another one out after lunch! Tim Southee's cameo is over. Eventually one went up in the air to a fielder.
Southee c Potts b Anderson 26 (NZ 86-8)
It was coming!
Tim Southee was going on the attack in an attempt to unsettle the England bowlers.
He played a beautiful drive through midwicket the previous delivery. But next up he mis-times a pulls that is comfortably pouched again by Matthew Potts at fine leg.
Southee's lively cameo is over. England motoring once more.

Jack Leach will now undergo a "graduated return to play" over a minimum seven-day period, meaning he is a doubt to be fit for the second Test at Trent Bridge, starting next Friday.
