NZ 5-1published at 3 overs
Latham 4, Williamson 0
Anderson has Kane Williamson in his sights now. Williamson's recent scores, albeit many of them in T20s, read like scores I'd return.
New Zealand still trail by five, by the way.
Close - NZ 236-4: Mitchell 97*, Blundell 90*, Potts 2-50

I once had dinner with Will Young - the singer - with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Young c Foakes b Anderson 1 (NZ 5-1)
Jimmy Anderson strikes again! This game just refuses to settle down.
Anderson is right on the money and a little bit of movement finds the edge of Will Young's bat.
Insert pun about the New Zealand batter having to leave here.

It is only the third time in 142 Lord's Tests that no player has scored a half-century for either side in the first innings. You have to go back to 1954 v Pakistan for the last time that happened, the time before that was an Ashes Test in 1888.
It is also only the third time in a Lord's Test that both sides have been bowled out for under 150 in their first innings and the first time is has happened in England since 1954.
The question has just been asked here in the office when the first century will come in this series. I'm going for about five hours time by Tom Latham.
He flicks a few off his toes.

As the third umpire was checking that run-out shout, Jimmy Anderson was worryingly laid flat on his back stretching some part of his body.
Thankfully it just looks like early spell stiffness rather than damage caused by carrying the weight of a cricketing nation on his back for 10 years.
It'll be Stuart Broad from the other end.

I feel sorry for Ben Foakes because the batting line-up effectively ends at seven. I think we are going back to the 90s with a tail like that.
If New Zealand get England six down you only expect the innings to last another 30-40 minutes.
Will Young has made his ground by about a foot. Settle down.

He didn't put the full dive in.
Direct hit second ball by Ben Stokes in the field!
It's close but England aren't too confident...

It was just not good enough yesterday. You can make all the excuses you like but this is the same group of players. And my worry is if you are part of that group you cannot change.
It is like a disease in the dressing room you can't get rid of. When you lose a wicket there is a feeling another one will soon follow. Because collapses like yesterday have come out of nowhere.

Anyway...
Yet again Jimmy Anderson has a new ball in his hand.
"Bail us out again, Jim?"
Here's another one of those tame dismissals...

It is now a one innings game. Who has got the mentality to play an innings for their team?
You fancy New Zealand won't bat like they did yesterday, they just looked a bit rusty. I think it will be a bit harder for England today.
If they get one player to a 100 you would fancy New Zealand to get at least 250-300 and it would be down to England to chase them down.
This kind of match situation is great as a player because you can make a massive difference and have the opportunity to get your team over the line to victory.

England's batting has been so tame recently. It doesn't seem to take much to push the door open.

Mike Bell: If the match continues to unfold at this pace, Matt Parkinson can probably have another barbecue tomorrow.
Overall England lost 8-49.
This morning they have added 25 runs amid losing their final three wickets.
Room for improvement. Acres of it.

Another disappointing display with the bat for England.
Zak Crawley did OK before getting out in his usual way and it was a procession after that.
