What a shot that is!
Lead by 8
Errrm...
Matthew William Parkinson has just perfectly driven Tim Southee down the ground for four at Lord's. Jonny Bairstow is whooping on the balcony.
These are strange times.
England are into the lead as Parkinson clips a couple off his pads!
Lord's gives a hearty cheer again.

Joe: [Ctrl C + Ctrl V] Sensational bowling performance, shambolic batting performance.
It's all happening now. Jimmy Anderson clearly fancies himself as the senior rabbit in this partnership.
First he has a swing, then he survives an lbw shout and then drives a couple down the ground to bring the scores level.
The right way for Broad to play or a terrible shot? You decide...

It doesn't feel as though New Zealand have had to do too much to get England out.

In comes Southee... Matt Parkinson has a high score in first-class cricket of 21 not out. Not great. A proper number 11.
Solidly forward! There's applause in the TMS box.
On we go.

BBC Sport's chief cricket writer at Lord's
I take it back. Broad was right to get on with it...
Matt Parkinson emerges from the Lord's long room for his Test debut. He was preparing to host a barbeque this time yesterday.
Good luck...

Poor shot. Looking to dab it down to third and just flicked it to slip.
Foakes c Mitchell b Southee 7 (Eng 130-9)
Hmmm. Ben Foakes is out. He tries to fiddle the ball for a single but tamely edges to slip.
England have one wicket left and still trail by two.

Lara? Steady on!

Anderson is looking like Brian Lara out there at the moment.
Lord's is liking this from Jimmy Anderson. First he takes a couple off Southee down through gully and then calmly knocks a single before wandering to the other end.
Tim Southee has a word. "Why don't the rest of you bat like this?", maybe?

I'm not sure I know enough about Matt Parkinson to know whether I'd trust him at a barbeque. There's a lot to do.
Jimmy Anderson keeps the strike.

Matty Parkinson was having the whole Lancashire team round for a barbecue yesterday.
He got the sausages and burgers ready and was just reaching for the first beer of the day when he got the call.
'Sorry lads, barbecue's off' and he is off in the car hightailing down the M6.
By the end of the day he is on the Lord's balcony with his pads on.
A remarkable day.
A great stat from Mark. Broad is a better batter than Sachin, clearly.
Ben Foakes takes a single on the second ball of Boult's over. There's no sign of him protecting Anderson.

Mark Puttick: Broad dismissed for nine, which takes his total to 900 Test runs at Lord's. That's more than Denis Compton, Hussain, Atherton, Hutton, Hammond, Cowdrey, Hobbs, Bradman, WG Grace, Tendulkar, and more made at Lord's.
