Tom Blundell's hundred is the first Test century by a New Zealand wicketkeeper in England.

The Kiwis started the day on 318-4. England needed wickets. Quickly.

But instead, it was more of the same from New Zealand. Tom Blundell continued to score freely and reached three figures.

Top work, Ffion. Rarely have I been fully satisfied by a meal deal.

Anyway. That was a tough watch. England are taking a beating. Poor bowling. Terrible fielding. And some solid New Zealand batting.

And as the players leave for their lunch, I'm going to do the same. Although I'm sure theirs will be much nicer than a meal deal.

Daryl Mitchell has changed the tempo since Tom Blundell got out, realising the importance of this partnership with Michael Bracewell. New Zealand will be wanting 500 because that will put them in a position to dominate the game.

Nicholas: I think a bit of realism is needed. The win at Lord’s was superb but England aren’t going to go from 1 win in 17 to world beaters overnight. New Zealand are a superb team and this batting display isn’t a shock. Keep the faith, it will take a few years time at least!

You're not wrong, Jon. Let's not think about England batting yet. They've still got five wickets to take.

Jon: The worst thing about this as an England fan is the expectation that this pitch will look like a minefield when we bat.

You can see the crowd are getting up for it a bit more with Ben Stokes. England have a sniff of bowling them out a little bit cheaper than they maybe thought a little while ago.

The crowd is waking up now as Stokes beats the edge of Bracewell's bat twice. It's the first time there's been some energy out there.

Can England sneak in another wicket before lunch?

Not this over anyway, as Bracewell whips the last ball of the over off his legs for four. Stokes shows his frustration by slamming his cap back on his head aggressively as he marches back to mid-off.

But he does get his first Test run two balls later to settle the nerves.

It was such a controlled hundred by Tom Blundell. His celebration sums up his batting - under the radar, and all in a days work. He's steadily accumulated. He reached that magic milestone and it almost changed the way he played. Obviously he will happy with a century, but after he has down after walking he will feel maybe he has missed out on a really big score.
