Thanks Kal. Hopefully that's the end of the inclement weather. Bit of time taken out the game has probably suited England after a day of relative toil.

Could be some fireworks from New Zealand's batters if they want a bowl at England this evening.

We're just moments away from play resuming.

How will New Zealand approach this? All out attack and then declare? Here's Timothy Abraham to take you through the next passage of play.

Pretty strange knowing the 2 guys (Mo and Cook) in the commentary box working media are easily good enough to walk into this current test side.

    Sir Alastair Cook
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special

I can't see New Zealand enforcing the follow-on, unless they roll England for hardly anything. Even if England only make 220 odd then New Zealand will not want to be in the field for three days. That's why I would bat for slightly less time than Moeen suggested!

    Moeen Ali
England all-rounder on BBC Test Match Special

I wouldn't declare too early if I was New Zealand. I'd want maybe 40 minutes tonight.

The covers are being taken off and the sky is clearing.

Tea will now be taken at 15:10 BST with the third session starting at 15:30. So we won't have any play before then.

Mark Burt: This performance was always on the cards. Two wins from 18, missing eight bowlers to injury, one batter with an average over 40 and playing the world champions. A new coach and skipper can’t change the fact England are at best an average side who occasionally show up.

If you're just joining us, the players are off the field in a somewhat unexpected rain delay.

It's been New Zealand's day once again. These two blokes completely dominated England.

  12. Central Sparks reach Charlotte Edwards Cup finalpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 11 June 2022

Meanwhile over in Northampton, Central Sparks beat South East Stars by two wickets in a low-scoring encounter in the semi-final of the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

Kalea Moore top-scored with 34 as the Stars stuttered to 104-8 from their 20 overs with seamer Grace Potts taking 3-20.

Sparks collapsed to 98-8 in reply thanks to Bryony Smith's 4-14, but Emily Arlott's 16 not out calmly got them over the line.

Sparks will face Southern Vipers in the final at 16:00 BST. You can follow live text and radio coverage of that game here.

The forecast looks decent for the rest of this afternoon. Maybe not the news England fans want to hear.

The groundstaff did run off to get the covers that cover the bowling run-ups, before stopping.

But they are now bringing them on.

We could be set for a fairly heavy delay here.

It's unclear whether this is a passing shower or not. But all the covers are on. A much-needed break in play for England.

It's pandemonium as people reach for coats, umbrellas and seek shelter as the players scamper off. That really has come from nowhere. Hopefully it's just a passing shower. It's been a pretty nice day up until then.

The runs aren't drying up, and the outfield is getting wet. No idea where that came from. Off they go.

If England aren't going to take these wickets they are going to have be defensive and dry up the runs. New Zealand are very much in control of things.
