Buttler would be a mistake. We need to have a few players, such a Foakes, who play traditionally and can anchor and calm things down to let the man at the other end go crazy. Don't discount him, but he doesn't get in ahead of anyone right now.

Terrific delivery from Tim Southee after the drinks break. It straightens and squares up Stuart Broad.
Broad advances down the track to the next ball and plays inside the line.

Jamie Jones: Neal 11:57. I want one game of cricket to last five days. Whatever the ups and downs, I really don’t care.

What do England with Jamie Overton because James Anderson is likely to return for the India Test next week. Who does he come in for?

Chris Leaman: This England side is ridiculous and I love it.
So just the one wicket for New Zealand today. Jamie Overton will be gutted. But it takes nothing away from a spectacular innings on debut.

The game evolves, surprised this technique hasn't been tried before. Sure it won't always work but great for the game and fans.

Lead by 2 runs
Stuart Broad is deceived by a slower ball. He is almost falling over as goes way too early with the pull shot. Good over from Boult - lots of variation.
Time for drinks.
England lead by one run. If these two are still out there by lunch - my word, they will have a very handy lead.

Neal, what some fans want is to be entertained. And nobody can argue we're not getting our value for money.

That's the problem for Wagner - he can't get the ball high enough when he goes for the short-pitched delivery.

Here's a different perspective - this style of cricket will make Tests feel like five days of ODI cricket. Is that what we want for Test cricket?

Stuart Broad pulls. It's high. It's long. And it clears the rope! Headingley erupts.
Punishment for Wagner, too. Broad makes some space and smashes it down the ground. Wasn't middled but who cares? Four more.

He's big, he's bad, he's gonna be a dad. Stuart Broad!

Stuart Broad’s hand signal as if to say “yep, I picked that cutter” after seeing the ball fly past his head is remarkable.
Broad pulls and misses. Eng Dot ball. Booooo!
He does jab a full toss into the off side for a single to end the over, though.
England trail by just 12 runs now. They were 55-6 yesterday... Fifty five for six!!
BROADY!! It's in the slot from Boult and the England man swings and swings hard. Back over the seamer's head for six.
That's 14 from the last three balls!
