252-2 doesn't look great reading for England but I actually think they've done really well in terms of damage limitation on a very flat pitch and a hot day.

England missed Adil Rashid at the death in the India series. He's very comfortable bowling at this stage of the game, he knows his plans very well.
A decent over for South Africa as they take eight from Adil Rashid's comeback over.
They managed to do that without taking any real risks. When will we see them let the handbrake off?
Their last 50 came up in 39 balls - it is the quickest of the innings so far.

It’s a rough estimate but I understand hundreds of people have left the ground because of the heat. Some hope to return later if it cools down.
You and me both, Susan.
Sam Curran is out of the attack for now. Adil Rashid, who has three overs left, is back on.

Susan Bailey: Slowly melting.
A member of Durham staff is walking about giving out ice cubes round the back of the stand. It's that hot. We've still got some fans dressed up in gladiatorial gear though.
Another good over from Brydon Carse, conceding just six and a wide.
With 10 overs to go, what can sort of target can South Africa set? They'll be looking for 10 an over in this final period, surely?
Another landmark for the South Africans as Aiden Markram brings up his fourth ODI half-century with a nudge into the on side.
Here are a couple of his best moments for you to enjoy. He took a particular liking to Liam Livingstone.

Sam Curran struggles with his line slightly in this over, with Rassie van der Dussen bringing up his century with a fine clip to the boundary before he works a couple of twos through the leg side.
He's absolutely exhausted now. He's practically on his haunches after every run at the moment.

That is a fantastic innings. He has put South Africa in a very, very strong position.
He has had to work really hard for a lot of those runs. He had to rotate the strike and run the ones and twos well when the boundaries dried up.
A brilliant innings!
It's a flat pitch but considering the conditions and quality of the England bowling line-up this a superb century from Rassie van der Dussen.
It is his third in ODI cricket and first against England.
It has taken him 90 balls and has only contained nine fours. He is very much in the Joe Root mould.

It's really good bowling. There are only four out at the moment so there are options for the batters to score down the ground, but the length Carse is bowling means they can only play square.
Van der Dussen 96, Markram 49
A really good over from Brydon Carse is ruined as Aiden Markram muscles away a bottom-arm jab through mid-wicket to end the over. That turns a three-run over into one that goes for seven.
You feel Carse probably got the most to gain from this series. England are trying him out in the role that Liam Plunkett did so well in the 2019 World Cup. He was able to restrict the scoring and break partnerships consistently.
A change for England after the drinks break.
Jos Buttler has opted to go with pace at both ends as Brydon Carse, who has five overs left, replaces Moeen Ali.

There's been a bit of a shift in tone. You could see Sam Curran mixing up his pace and lengths because he can sense South Africa wanting to come at him.

This England team could comfortably chase down 350. Yes, they didn't bat well against India but that bowling attack is far superior.
South Africa have a bit of a trend of starting very well but not making the most of their platform so England will be happy, especially as they've bowled in the worst of the conditions.
While the players have a drink - and England huddle their umbrellas again - here a couple of clips for you to watch.
Sam Curran removing Quinton de Kock and then some of Janneman Malan's best shots before Moeen Ali dismissed him.
With Matthew Potts off the field suffering with the heat, England have had to make up overs from Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone. That trio have got through 10 overs between them now though so Jos Buttler has the option of just using Sam Curran, Brydon Carse, Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid to the end of the innings now.
Curran uses his full range of tricks - back-of-the hand slower balls, off-cutters and full pace deliveries - but South Africa effortlessly take seven from the over.
It's hard work for everyone out there - Rassie van der Dussen was down on his haunches after running a three in that over. Time for a drink.
