  1. SA 71-1published at 12 overs

Quinton de Kock races on to 41 off 31 with yet another cracking cover drive for four. Reece Topley isn't quite sure where to bowl sending in another high bouncer which is given wide.

Oooh this is better as one shapes back in which De Kock leaves.

There is still movement out there folks.

Sean: Early signs in Buttler's captaincy that he is going to be very defensive. Why has that slip come out when we are on top? Can't allow teams off the hook so easily, as England have done a number of times already this summer in ODI's.

  3. SA 65-1published at 11 overs

De Kock keeps things moving with a quick single before van der Dussen blocks one.

Next up South Africa's number three premeditates, getting down on one knee and scooping one over Jos Buttler for four.

Moeen Ali responds well with three more dots to finish the over.

They will be disappointed to have lost that early wicket but it's been a decent powerplay from South Africa.

They seem to have worked out that you have to wait a fraction longer for the ball to come to you on this pitch to get your rewards.

Moeen Ali continues and England keep an aggressive field.

This is a masterclass in skill from Quinton de Kock here. He's using his wrists beautifully to guide the ball where he wants it.

  8. SA 60-1published at 10 overs

Quinton de Kock is accelerating, this is bad news for England.

He plinks one through the covers first ball before Reece Topley responds, beating his edge with a skidder.

But de Kock is unfazed, plinking again, this time towards a vacant third-man.

A good finish to the powerplay from the tourists.

Hey I'm all for new ways to describe cricket shots. There's only so many times I can say 'driven through the covers for four'.

Plinked past a diving fielder sounds way better.

Reece Topley will bowl the final over of the powerplay by the way.

It is a good word, but the real question is are we going to see a plonk at any time today?

Is plink an actual word? It's underused. I'm going to try and use it more.

There's not a great deal of room between cover and extra cover but he's worked it through perfectly.

  13. SA 51-1published at 9 overs

Quinton de Kock punishes England later into Moeen Ali's over, punching the ball through the covers to move on to 26 not out and bring up South Africa's 50.

He then pinches the strike with a single at the end of the over.

QDK has been fortunate so far but is now finding his feet.

He was gone by a distance!

  15. SA 45-1published at 8.2 overs

Run-out chance as David Willey has a shy at the stumps hoping to catch out a scampering Quinton de Kock. Off-target. He would have been out by a yard.

We were all expecting big scores of 300 plus but the pitches hasn't allowed that so far.

It's made for a more interesting series though, with more contest between bat and ball.

Nice invention from De Kock, reacting to England's tactical field settings. He just ignores the packed off side and scoops it behind square leg!

  19. SA 44-1published at 8 overs

Much better from De Kock who skips to his left enabling him to play a paddle shot to the vacant fine-leg boundary.

Has he got his timing right now? Not yet as next ball finds a leading edge that lands just beyond a diving square-leg.

Van der Dussen's turn and he drives nicely through the covers for four.

A strange eighth over; edge, boundary, edge boundary.

  20. SA 35-1published at 7.1 overs

    Another edge!

David Willey carries on and Quinton de Kock takes a wild uncharacteristic swing. Edged over the keeper for four.
