    Moeen c Stubbs b Markham 2 (Eng 59-4)

This is an absolutely stunning grab!! Tristan Stubbs is a gem of a find. Not only can the boy bat, he has just taken a spectacular one-handed catch.

Moeen Ali chips it into the leg side and Stubbs sprints from a cover position, flies through the air and holds on to a dipping ball with his left hand.

    Unreal.

England's batting is only proving to be a problem because the bowlers can't take wickets, meaning the scores England are having to make/chase are putting them under massive pressure from the first ball.

    Lee, Leeds

  3. Eng 57-3published at 9.3 overs

More spin! On comes Aiden Markram for South Africa. As quite a few of you have pointed out today, England missed a trick only giving Moeen Ali the one over earlier.

Off-spinner Markram concedes three singles from as many balls. Solid.

Thomas Measures: England look an average side at best since Morgan retired. If this carries on I cannot see us getting out of the group stages at the T20 WC.

  5. Eng 54-3published at 9 overs

Moeen Ali strides to the middle as Phehlukwayo completes as a superb over. Just four runs conceded and the wicket of Malan.

Jos Buttler looks a bit glum in the England dugout.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.3 overs

    Malan c Nortje b Phehlukwayo 7 (Eng 52-3)

    England's top order fail again.

The hosts need big hits and Dawid Malan tries to force it. He flicks off his pads and Anrich Nortje, running in from deep square leg, slides on the surface and takes a decent catch.

  8. Eng 52-2published at 8.1 overs

Andile Phehlukwayo comes on to bowl. Malan takes the single. Will Bairstow now target the seamer? They could do with some Jonny magic right now.

  9. Eng 50-2published at 8 overs

A miscued slog-sweep from Malan sends the ball dribbling into the off side to bring up England's 50.

The worm shows England are 14 runs behind South Africa. England are 50 for 2 after 8 overs. At the same stage South Africa were 64 for 2.Image source, BBC Sport
  10. Eng 48-2published at 7.3 overs

Spin from both ends with Tabraiz Shamsi introduced to the attack.

A single apiece for the England pair, before Malan fails to connect with a reverse sweep.

Malan and Roy are scoring at less than a run a ball.

Roy's dreadful form is putting added pressure on Buttler to score quickly. Roy needs to be rested.

    Jason, Neath.

  12. Eng 44-2published at 7 overs

Eng need 149 runs in 78 balls.

Smart running from Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow - taking on the arm of Anrich Notje and stealing two.

But just five from the Maharaj over. Here's how the spinner got the better of England skipper Jos Buttler.

  13. Eng 40-2published at 6.3 overs

Keshav Maharaj concedes just the single from his opening three deliveries. Tidy bowling with a tight line. Not offering England much to work with.

    BBC Test Match Special

Testing times for England, with Nortje over 90mph with pretty much every ball. It shows there is a way to bowl effectively in the powerplay with high pace.

At least for England, he only has two overs left.

  16. Eng 39-2published at 6 overs

Bairstow is squared up and beaten by a Nortje beauty!

Then another fierce short delivery is signalled a no-ball by the umpire. England are given a free hit but Bairstow can only dig out a fuller ball for a single.

    Terrific over.

  17. Eng 37-2published at 5.2 overs

New man Jonny Bairstow walks to the middle. Huge cheers for the Yorkshireman.

His first assignment is to duck under a short ball from Nortje. It beats batter and 'keeper. Four byes.

The big South African Anrich Nortje with a big celebration.

That ball carried nicely through to De Kock at that pace.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5.1 overs

    Roy c De Kock b Nortje 17 (Eng 33-2)

Another poor innings for Jason Roy comes to an end.

Anrich Nortje bangs it in short, hard and fast. Roy - looking to slap through the line - top edges it into the gloves of Quinton De Kock.

    Roy's 17 came off 18 balls.
