It's not just a hint, Stuart Broad is coming on to bowl. Does this mean a change in approach from England?
Don't count on it, the field is set for short stuff and Broad is starting around the wicket.

Stuart Broad is loosening up and I don't think he is just dropping a hint.

The only way this is going to stop is when the bowlers get tired and then order can be restored.
Nortje 12, Jansen 47
A full ball to Nortje! It's taken a while but it has finally come! Full, swinging in to the right-hander and the bat comes down just in time to jab the ball to square leg.
Just to even it out, Stokes ends with a bouncer to Jansen. Easily ducked by the South African.
Stokes will continue. Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad are made to wait to get their hands on the new ball.

It's not just ex-players, there's a large crowd here scratching their heads.

I bet there's a lot of ex-players sitting at home thinking 'what is going on here?'
Lead by 138
Close! Nortje takes on a bumper from Potts, slashing it down towards deep third and Zak Crawley can't quite get to it as he comes haring round from fly slip.
It would have been a great catch but instead the ball bounces away for four. Thatbrings up the 300 for South Africa.
The last ball is also flayed away off side by Nortje, in front of square this time and Potts has to chase it off his own bowling. Such is the, erm, unusual field England have set.
Broad may have surprised his team-mates...
One wicket for England early this morning, Matthew Potts getting Kagiso Rabada in the first over of the day.
But it was all about a magnificent catch from Stuart Broad...
Lead by 131
Short to Nortje, full to Jansen. That's the England plan, I know it, you know it and the South African pair definitely know it.
Nortje is made to jump and sway clear of the last ball from Stokes but a previous bumper fly well down leg and Foakes could only half stop it, leading to a rare bye against the England 'keeper.

It must have been a plan that was discussed beforehand, but you still want to get these guys out.

If you are going to bowl short, why do it with the new ball? Yes, we are scratching our heads.
Short from Potts to Nortje, who fends it away into the leg side for a single. Not what England wanted.
The England seamer does go that bit fuller to Jansen and repeatedly goes past the bat. It does beg the question, if it is good enough for a more accomplished batter like Jansen, why not try it to a tailender?
The last ball also beats Jansen and it stays very low, too. If England can bat themselves into a lead in the next day or so, the fourth innings could be very interesting.
Yep, Potts will carry on with the new ball.

Neither Broad nor Anderson have taken the new ball this morning, which is a bit curious.
Nortje 1, Jansen 44
Jansen does take a single second ball and the field shifts for Nortje with a slip taken out, leg slip is in and there's is a bat-pad as well. England aren't exactly being subtle about their tactics.
Nortje gets off the mark with a thick outside edge, over the one slip and down to third man. Jansen can't get a single form the last so Nortje will be on strike.
The second new ball is now available, England have taken it... and Ben Stokes will continue.
Two slips in place and plenty of singles there for the taking if Jansen wants to take them.

It is shaping up to be an unbelievable morning for bowling again. There's a couple of clouds rolling in.
Jansen is happy to take a single second ball, leaving Nortje with four short balls (just a hunch) to face.
Potts doesn't disappoint but it is the fullest of the deliveries - still back of a length - that comes closest to bringing a wicket as Nortje fishes at it wide of off.
