The crowd is getting a little bit lively in the party stand. A beer snake is being meticulously put together and there's a beach ball in there as well.

Everything comes to life when you have someone bowling 90mph. The crowd get into it and there's a sense of expectation.
Anrich Nortje beats Ben Stokes outside his off stump with a ball on a challenging length. The crowd have bolted up in their chairs a bit. He hits the high eighties in the rest of the over.
This is bubbling up into a nice contest.
South Africa's plans to spin these two out is brought to a halt as Anrich Nortje is brought back into the attack.

Stokes had been itching to go and that is a valuable half-century in the context of this game and, of course, the series. England have got such a grip on this game at the moment.

That's a big one from Stokes. He decided it was time that Harmer had to go and that brings up his half-century.
I think that went into the England dressing room, it disappeared out of our sight.
That's more like it! Ben Stokes skips down the pitch and wallops Simon Harmer back over his head for a six which brings up his half-century.
Brendon McCullum sat with his feet up on the boundary, shades on, applauds.

You feel that Maharaj is more likely to take a wicket than Harmer at the moment. They've got an element of control but England are on top in the game.
South Africa clocking up the dots. Keshav Maharaj with another maiden. Bazball has two different faces, perhaps?

Harmer has just been told to get off the pitch by umpire Chris Gaffaney. He's getting too close to the danger area.
Simon Harmer like a metronome. Plugging away outside Ben Stokes' off stump. Another maiden as the England captain resists.
The crowd briefly roused as Ben Stokes, on the back foot to Keshav Maharaj, thwacks it through the covers. It's not quite got enough on it to reach the boundary but he and Ben Foakes run a couple.

This partnership is really important and has sucked the energy out of South Africa a little bit. It's partnerships like this where you build and build then explode that can take the game away from the opposition.
Three singles off Simon Harmer's next over as England continue to farm the strike. All very tranquil. Equally so the crowd, who are quiet in the post-lunch lull.

David Owen: Jack Leach will be watching with interest because the ball is spinning but batting last on this pitch may be challenging - which makes decent first-innings lead crucial.
Keshav Maharaj rushes through another brisk over. Two runs from it off the bat of Ben Foakes with a familiar clip off the pads.
These feels like the calm before the storm.

I think England have been rather sedate since lunch. Ben Stokes has played watchfully and Ben Foakes will be happy when he doesn't have to face Maharaj.
Simon Harmer round the wicket to Ben Stokes who tosses up his fourth ball with a scrambled seam which the England captain nervously prods at.
You can see why Harmer has taken buckets for Essex. Dot, dot, dot. Pressure, pressure, pressure.

Am I the only one that thinks Ben Foakes looks like the sadly departed Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters?
