Since coming in for his second innings at Trent Bridge, Jonny Bairstow has scored 430 from 384 balls and got out only twice.
Jonny Bairstow has just uppercut the first ball of Shardul Thakur's over for a one-bounce four.
And then carves the second past point for another boundary.
I have no words. This is unreal.

Can people stop criticising Stokes. He's started a red ball revolution, yes he's not got the balance quite right yet, but how much have this team improved under his captaincy?

Bairstow is in such good nick at the moment, he's not trying to hit the ball too hard. He has just got better and better this morning.
Don't worry, though, Jonny's showing no signs of slowing things down.
He flicks Siraj for four on one leg with absolute disdain, follows it with a hook shot that has us all holding our breath but it lands safely. Then is denied a four by a stunning boundary save by Vihari.
On we go.

Billings looks in the mood but this has been a good over and he's respected it.
Daniel Norcross

How's Billings going to approach this? He's a naturally aggressive player. Does he need to prove he is down with the BazBall?
Sam Billings plays carefully and respectfully to Shardul Thakur as just a single comes from the over.
A welcome chance for me to take a breath, cheers Sam.

I am furious with Stokes. There's positive batting and there's bad batting. Poor in my opinion given the deficit.

I think Ben Stokes, the England captain, after getting dropped twice, to get out in that manner... it's controlling your emotions. If you think it is the ball to hit, you've got to execute properly and on three occasions, he didn't.
That is outrageous.
Bairstow, having just seen his captain depart, launches Mohammed Siraj over mid-off for a one-bounce four.
That's the difference. Bairstow played the rest of the over cautiously, took a single, and chose the right moment to attack.

Sean Bulpitt: Entertaining or not, that is brainless cricket from Stokes. Bairstow playing proper shots, Stokes just slogging. The team didn't need that.
Martin Turner: I'm all for this new attitude and "bazball" but surely Stokes has to learn? He's done this so many times now. He gets given life after life and then plays the same shots again! Why not take a ball and have a moment after being dropped?

When you see a wicket like that, especially after getting dropped the previous ball, you have to question whether it is the right approach? Do you need a bit more balance?
And Sam Billings clips his first ball for four!
I need a lie down.

The way England are playing is truly thrilling and this is not intended as a criticism, but Ben Stokes is 25-3 in that innings.

What a catch! Is there nothing this man can't do! A brilliant, sensational catch from Jasprit Bumrah.
An absolutely stunning first hour comes to an end with a brilliant catch. I'm off to put my head in an ice bucket after that.
Stokes c Bumrah b Thakur 25 (Eng 149-6)
Oh. No mistake this time.
You've got to say that is poor cricket from Stokes. Having played the exact same shot the ball before and been dropped, he tries it again and this time Bumrah takes a great diving catch.
Yes it was a thrilling first hour, and it was going well, but I just can't see the logic there at all.
Again!
Stokes drills Thakur firmly towards Jasprit Bumrah at mid-off but he's spilled it! Low to the ground but he got two hands to it!
England's captain is living a charmed life.

Shardul Thakur comes into the attack for the first time.
I think these two will target him. Can he make up for dropping Stokes?
