Ton up for for Hampshire opener Joe Weatherley!

A lovely-timed on-drive for his 13th four of his 179-ball knock brings up the landmark.

He celebrates with a warm hug with batting partner Nick Gubbins after acknowledging the applause all around the ground.

    Glamorgan 223-7 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham paceman Matty Potts has just taken two wickets in three balls. Both LBW.

Callum Taylor fell first for 11, followed by James Weighell, Potts' former team-mate, who got a second-ball duck.

Chris Cooke (54) earlier put on 80 for the fifth wicket with Colin Ingram, who was eventually out for 87, edging Paul Coughlin to David Bedingham at first slip.

It's a sunny but cool day in Cardiff. And, after the loss of 49 overs yesterday they are trying to claw back eight today and eight tomorrow, although the forecast suggests there could be some rain around this afternoon.

Lunch is set for 1.10pm and tea for around 4pm.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Holland c Green b Van der Merwe 81 (Hampshire 180-1 v Somerset 180)

Breakthrough finally for Somerset as Hampshire draw level on the scoreboard.

Ian Holland tries to steer Roelof van der Merwe fine off his pads and is well caught in the leg slip trap under the helmet by Ben Green.

Scores level and now finally Nick Gubbins gets to stride out at first drop for the hosts.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Vasconcelos c Bracey b Higgins (Northants 6-1 v Gloucestershire)

Northants begin their reply against Gloucestershire badly as they lose new county captain Ricardo Vasconcelos in only their third over, caught behind by opposite number James Bracey off Ryan Higgins.

  7. ouch!

Painful-looking moment for Denlypublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Essex 319-5 v Kent

Potential problems for Kent here as Joe Denly pulls up in the outfield.

Chasing an off-drive from Adam Rossington he clutches his right hamstring and is escorted around the boundary by the Kent physio.

He cuts a forlorn figure as he limps awkwardly up the pavilion steps.

  8. Hampshire keeping Somerset at baypublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Hampshire 177-0 v Somerset 180

    Kevan James
BBC Radio Solent at the Ageas Bowl

Somerset felt, Peter Siddle aside, that they bowled a little too short yesterday afternoon and evening.

Whilst they’ve pitched the ball up a little further this morning, it hasn’t as yet brought any rewards.

That’s not to say that they haven’t asked questions of the two opening Hampshire batsmen. They have.

But the momentum the home side built up yesterday has so far, carried through to today.

They trail just just three runs now.

  9. Derbyshire rallypublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Middlesex 356-7 v Derbyshire

    Sam Dalling
    BBC Radio London at Lord's

And all of a sudden there are smiles in Derbyshire. Three wickets in quick succession and they have a foothold in the game.

Anuj Dal struck first, and he certainly enjoyed removing Jack Davies’ off-stump. An impassioned celebration, brilliant to see.

John Simpson has also been and gone. He came out with plenty of attacking intent before tickling one to Brooke Guest off Alex Thomson. Simpson was, well, disappointed. Not sure whether it was with the umpire or himself. He had just flicked Dal into the Grand Stand for six.

Two balls later, Thomson had another, a hoick from Toby Roland-Jones getting more height than distance. Wayne Madsen doesn’t drop those.

That was in the 110th over and Middlesex were chasing fourth batting bonus point. They got there, but also gave Derbyshire a second bowling bonus.

Robbie White remains in situ though, and has brought up a half-century. He’s not had it all his own way mind – a leading off Sam Conners in the day’s first over fell safe, he nicked Suranga Lakmal through the vacant third slip and chipped Dal short of Lakmal at mid-on.

Lakmal’s body seems to be holding up well enough too. Just the six first-class outings for him in the last 12 months, all Tests. More than once he has bowled fewer than 10 overs in an innings.

  10. 200 runs

200 up for Surrey at Edgbastonpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Surrey 201-4 v Warwickshire

Surrey earn their first batting bonus point of 2022 in the 62nd over.

The sun remains out, Ben Foakes looks set on 19, despite the loss of overnight partner Ollie Pope. How many more batting points to come?

  11. wicket

Gloucestershire bowled out for 223published at 12:04 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Bracey c Zaib b Buck 117

James Bracey is last man out for Gloucestershire at Northampton, for a superb 117.

His eighth and probably best first-class century lasted just 10 minutes short of five hours, included 14 fours and a six- and was watched admiringly by nine different partners.

From 103-7, he has helped more than double his side's score - and made well over half of it too.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Shah c Gay b Keogh 19 (Gloucestershire 223-9 v Northants)

Gloucestershire's key ninth-wicket stand is over.

Straight after hitting a six, Naseem Shah holes out to a skier off Rob Keogh taken safely by Emilio Gay.

He has played a big role in keeping his skipper James Bracey company for so long.

From 143-8, they put on 80 in 18 overs, secured a bonus point and have given their attack a lot more to bowl with.

  13. 300 runs

300 up for Essexpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Essex 300-5 v Kent

Adam Rossington square drives for four off the back foot for Essex to take them to 300 and a third batting bonus point.

Two Essex debutants together at the crease for them now with winter addition Matt Critchley (17 not out) at the other end.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Pope b Hannon-Dalby 58 (Surrey 191-4 v Warwickshire)

Ollie Pope is gone at Edgbaston.

A third wicket for Olly Hannon-Dalby, who brings one back through his defences to remove his leg stump.

Hooray, hooray, it's an Ollie-Olly day!

Good news for the Bears. Bad news for the purists as, although somewhat slowed this morning, Pope was looking in good nick.

New man at the crease to join Ben Foakes is Jamie Smith.

100 for James Braceypublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Gloucestershire 199-8 v Northants

    James Bracey's eighth first-class century.

His 12th four. 197 deliveries. Over half his side's total.

And now a six too, to move on to 108!

Only one run from a first batting bonus point.

  16. Bears turn to spinpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Surrey 191-3

40 minutes into the morning session and Warwickshire turn to spin.

Danny Briggs, who picked up one of the Bears' three wickets yesterday, is back intoi the attack.

  17. Runs keep flowingpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Hampshire 145-0 v Somerset 180

Hampshire keep on piling on the misery here for Somerset whose bowlers are not pitching it up enough.

Both Joe Weatherley (82 not out) and Ian Holland (60 not out) continue to tuck into anything short on this decent-looking pitch.

The hosts just 35 runs behind now.

  18. Bit more seasonal in Wales todaypublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Glamorgan 194-5 v Durham

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Sophia Gardens

It looks a little more like spring in Cardiff today - after hailstorms brought play to an early close yesterday.

The sun is out, but there's still a chill in the air as Glamorgan continue their first innings against Durham.

The one wicket to fall so far today is Colin Ingram, whose expansive 87 was a fine effort considering this is only the South African's second first-class match since 2017.

Ingram is a limited-overs specialist but his punchy knock - ended when he was caught behind off Paul Coughlin - has given Glamorgan a decent platform.

  19. 50 runs

50 for Ollie Popepublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 8 April 2022

    Surrey 178-3 v Bears

Ollie Pope breaks the early morning stranglehold at Edgbaston as he reaches his 50 with a glorious almost straight on-drive for four off Craig Miles.

Beautiful shot - the England man's 11th boundary.
