    Bell-Drummond lbw Abbott 149 (Kent 239-4 v Hampshire)

The new ball accounts for Daniel Bell-Drummond at the Spitfire Ground. It wasn't a great shot, a defensive jab across the line and Kyle Abbott has the wicket to end a stand of 126 with Jordan Cox.

DBD batted for 285 minutes, faced 231 balls and hit a six and 25 fours in a dynamic exhibition.

  4. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

Brett D'Oliiveira and Ed Barnard are continuing to bat well for Worcestershire against Sussex. They are 80 and 60 not out respectively and the home side are 264-4.

James Harris has taken two wickets against his former club, but Middlesex are 86-3 - with Mark Stoneman 50 not out - in reply to Glamorgan's 122 all out.

George Drissell is off the mark as a concussion replacement for Durham, who are 214-7 against Nottinghamshire at the Riverside.

  5. Concussion rules out Trevaskispublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Durham 209-7 v Nottinghamshire

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Liam Trevaskis will play no further part in this game. He left the field retired hurt on 15 in the afternoon session, having been hit on the head for the second time by Australian James Pattinson.

He ducked into the first one and it hit him square on, around the ear guard. After a change of helmet another short ball struck him on the top of the helmet and looped back to the bowler.

He was then led off by physio Susan Dale, although he appeared to look OK and was smiling at the time.

At tea, Durham had not announced a concussion replacement, but when Matty Potts was out for 10 early in the evening session, George Drissell walked out for his Durham debut.

  6. 250 runs

up for Yorkshirepublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Northants v Yorks 252-7

Second batting point for Yorkshire as they continue to go hard at Northants.

Jordan Thompson has struck his fourth boundary, this off Gareth Berg, together with a six before tea from Rob Keogh.

  7. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Warwickshire 33-1 v Essex 168

Shane Snater is now into the attack for Essex at Edgbaston following his 'six-for' against Somerset last week.

His opening over - to Rob Yates - is a tidy maiden.

Yates has a single so far and Dom Sibley is on eight.

  8. Postpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Kent 226-3 v Hampshire

It's been a tough afternoon for Mason Crane, who is slightly unlucky as Daniel Bell-Drummond's latest boundary only just eludes the fielder at extra cover. The leg-spinner has conceded 62 from 11 overs so far and DBD is 140 not out, with Jordan Cox on 43.

  9. Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Surrey v Somerset 188-3

This is now Somerset's highest score of the season so far and James Hildreth adds a four off James Taylor to progress to 43 not out.

Tom Abell is on 68 at the other end and their stand is now worth exactly the same number.

  10. wicket

    Davies c Harmer b S Cook 22 (Warwickshire 24-1 v Essex 168)

Sam Cook takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

It lasted only 21 balls, but Alex Davies managed to hit five boundaries in his first Championship knock for his new county.

He's gone now, though, caught at second slip off Sam Cook as he shaped to play the ball towards mid-wicket.

  11. Postpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Warwickshire 19-0 v Essex 168

Mark Steketee is giving Alex Davies too much freedom outside off stump and it costs him another two fours in the space of three balls - though the second was not a convincing shot, flying away off a thick outside edge.

  12. First batting point for Kentpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Kent 200-3 v Hampshire

A single each for Jordan Cox and Daniel Bell-Drummond at the start of Felix Organ's first over of the game and Kent have their first batting point.

DBD is now 122 not out and Cox has 36 - together they have added 87 since the dismissal of Tawanda Muyeye.

  13. Postpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

  14. Davies opens for championspublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Warwickshire 9-0 v Essex 168

    Alex DaviesImage source, Rex Features

A big moment for Alex Davies, who takes guard for Warwickshire for the first time in the Championship following his move from Lancashire.

Four runs through mid-wicket from Mark Steketee's opening delivery of the innings, followed by a square cut to the point boundary should help calm any nerves.

It's a big moment too for Dom Sibley, who was out first ball in the previous game - but he is not yet off the mark after facing five deliveries so far.

  15. D'Oliveira benefits from let-offpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Worcestershire 254-4 v Sussex - tea

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A very good session for Worcestershire adding 136 for the loss of Azhar Ali, who was out with the score on 133.

Four runs later Brett D’Oliveira was dropped by Tom Alsop when on 19, and he’s made the most of that chance adding an unbeaten 121 for the fifth wicket with Ed Barnard, with both passing 50.

Alsop injured his hand in attempting that slip catch, and has not returned to the field.

  16. Hassan & Mahmood catch eye for Lancashirepublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Lancashire v Gloucestershire 170-6 - tea

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

We are spoilt for choice here at Emirates Old Trafford with Jimmy Anderson, Saqib Mahmood and Hassan Ali all trying their best to be the star performer on day one.

Three Test match bowlers, needing all their skills on a pitch which looks good for batting.

It was Hassan's spell with Mahmood that certainly caught the eye, two wickets in two balls helping Lancashire fight back with six wickets in the afternoon, after a morning dominated by Gloucestershire.

  17. Brook impresses again for Yorkshirepublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Northamptonshire v Yorkshire 237-7 - tea

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

An absorbing and evenly-contested first two sessions at Wantage Road - with Northamptonshire slightly the happier of the two sides at tea.

After the early damage inflicted by Gareth Berg, Yorkshire hit back strongly through a 131-run stand between Dawid Malan - who was dropped at first slip before he had scored - and Harry Brook.

Brook impressed again with 84 before playing on to Ben Sanderson, but the loss of three wickets in as many overs saw Yorkshire slip from 203-4 to to 206-7. The pitch may get lower and slower, which could make first-innings runs on the board even more important.

  19. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Lancs v Glos 170-6

Having won the toss, Gloucestershire were enjoying a dream day at 119-0.

But my word have they stuffed things up, losing 6-31.

Genuine credit to the bowler can only really be given for one of those dismissals - George Balderson's beauty to James Bracey.

Otherwise it's been rum luck, two leg-side strangles, and two poor strokes.

Lancashire firmly on top but fortunate to be as well in as they are.

    James Anderson's day so far - 12-5-23-0.

  20. Postpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

They are already back at it at the Spitfire Ground.

Just singles added so far with Daniel Bell-Drummond on 108 not out and Jordan Cox unbeaten on 31.
