  1. Tea at the Riversidepublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Durham 187-6 v Nottinghamshire

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Nottinghamshire wrestled back some of the control during a tense afternoon session at Chester-le-Street.

Liam Patterson-White, the slow left-arm spinner, bowled unchanged throughout and picked up two wickets, allowing the pace bowlers to rotate from the other end.

James Pattinson has had no-ball trouble, over-stepping six times but he has also been a handful and twice struck Liam Trevaskis on the helmet, causing the youngster to retire hurt on 15.

  2. Tea at Wantage Roadpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Northants v Yorks 237-7

A very competitive day so far at Northampton.

Yorkshire were reeling at 22-3 but a stand of 131 got them going again.

Dawid Malan fell for 64 but Harry Brook rattled along to 84 to raise a batting point.

Then came a mini-collapse of 3-3 in just 11 deliveries.

But Jordan Thompson has picked things up to take the visitors towards a second point.

  3. Tea at the Ovalpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Surrey v Somerset 163-3

Somerset are on course for a first batting point of the season after a good afternoon against Surrey at the Oval.

Despite losing Matt Renshaw and Tom Banton, Tom Abell has moved on to 59 not out and has so far added 43 for the fourth wicket with James Hildreth.

Jamie Overton, playing against his former club, took the wicket of for 48.

  4. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Warwickshire v Essex 168

Spinner Danny Briggs finishes with figures of 4-31 as Essex skipper Tom Westley falls to the final ball before tea at Edgbaston.

The visitors lost their last eight wickets for 80 runs during the afternoon, including a spell of 5-11 in nine overs as they slumped from 98-2 to 109-7.

Westley batted for almost four hours, and hit eight fours, but only two other Essex batsmen got past 20.

    Steketee b Briggs 10 (Warwickshire v Essex 161-9)

Are Essex going to survive until tea?

Mark Steketee stays in his crease instead of going forward and makes no contact with an airy waft as Danny Briggs improves his figures to 3-29.

Tom Westley is still there on 74 not out with Essex's hopes of a substantial total undermined by their middle-order collapse.

    Kent 177-3 v Hampshire

Arguably Kent's session despite the loss of Ben Compton and Tawanda Muyeye in quick succession to Keith Barker.

Daniel Bell-Drummond has progressed to 106 not out off 177 balls, with the help of 20 fours, in what has been a high quality exhibition.

Jordan Cox has helped add 64 in 27 overs for the fourth wicket and is unbeaten on 28 at tea.

    Lancs v Glos 150-6

It's another quick-fire double for Lancashire.

Miles Hammond simply couldn't get going, making only 9 from 49 deliveries.

No doubt frustrated, he drives far too loosely at Hasan Ali and edges behind.

Then Tom Lace, bumped down from No. 4 to No. 7 this season, plays around his first ball and is lbw.

Zafar Gohar pushes the hat-trick ball to point.

The Glosters were 119-0 after winning the toss but are now in big trouble.

The next delivery is put away through mid-wicket for four as James Hildreth moves on to 18 not out.

    Kent 170-3 v Hampshire

After helping Daniel Bell-Drummond to his hundred, Jordan Cox has emerged from his shell at the Spitfire Ground.

He has lofted a rank long hop by Mason Crane over square leg for six and swept for four in the spinner's latest over.

Cox is now 24 not out, with DBD on 106.

    Brook b Sanderson 84 (Northants v Yorks 206-7)

Oh wow now Harry Brook is gone and Yorkshire have lost 3-3 in 11 balls.

An almost-identical dismissal to Harry Duke - so similar you have to watch it several times to convince yourself it's a different wicket.

Back-of-a-length outside off from Ben Sanderson and Brook farms it into his own pegs.

    Whoops.

Dom Bess gets it all wrong to a straight delivery from Rob Keogh.

Tries to push to leg, misses, and is cleaned up for a four-ball duck.

Northants with their second point and two wickets in seven balls to get going again before tea.

    Tom WestleyImage source, Rex Features

Essex skipper Tom Westley has accelerated since the fall of Essex's eight wicket. He has hit three recent boundaries to reach 70 not out and Mark Steketee has just pulled Oliver Hannon-Dalby away for four.

  14. Division Two round-uppublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

Sam Evans has just been dismissed for 63 with Leicestershire now 137-5 against Derbyshire at the Incora County Ground.

Durham are trying to rebuild against Nottinghamshire and are 162-5 in the 56th over at the Riverside.

Brett D'Oliveira has 55 not out and Worcestershire have their first batting point, reaching 214-4 against Sussex.

Middlesex are 37-0 after eight overs of their first innings, having dismissed Glamorgan for just 122.

    van Buuren c Salt b Mahmood 4 (Lancs v Glos 142-4)

Since Marcus Harris and James Bracey fell within six deliveries, Gloucestershire have gone absolutely nowhere - nine runs in 11 overs.

And now they've lost their captain Graeme van Buuren.

But it's another catch down the leg side as van Buuren goes to pull and possibly gloves one to Phil Salt.

    Duke b Sanderson 22 (Northants v Yorks 203-5)

    Maybe not back in business.

Ben Sanderson brought back and he takes three balls to strike.

No particular credit to the bowler here though as Harry Duke tries to chop a back-of-a-length ball to third man and edges into his off stump.

Bonus wicket and the day even again.

up for Yorkshirepublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 21 April 2022

    Northants v Yorks 200-4

22-3 following those three Gareth Berg wickets was a very tricky spot for Yorkshire but they're back in business now.

Harry Duke forces Rob Keogh through point for four to bring up their first batting point.

From afar, it looks like a pretty good deck at Wantage Road.

Usually there's plenty in it over the first couple of days but this wicket showing little of that.

    Kent 147-3 v Hampshire

Not for the first time, DBD finds the boundary from successive deliveries and this time it carries him to a 160-ball century, his 12th in first-class cricket.

The right-hander square cuts leg-spinner Mason Crane then drives him past mid-off to reach three figures and lift his boundary total in this innings to 19.

    Danny BriggsImage source, Rex Features

Shane Snater attempts to repeat the leg-side smear that brought him six a few minutes ago. This time he fails to produce sufficient elevation and Rob Yates takes the catch at mid-wicket, giving Danny Briggs another wicket.

That is the sixth Essex wicket to fall since lunch.

  20. wicket

    Banton c Foakes b Clark 16 (Surrey v Somerset 120-3)

It is often the case that when Surrey most need a wicket, Jordan Clark is the man to provide it, and he ends a 42-run partnership by having Tom Banton caught behind.

Tom Abell needs four runs to reach a half-century as new partner James Hildreth dabs his first delivery to the third man boundary.
