    Orr c Haynes b Baker 33 (Worcs 491 v Sussex 269 & 113-7)

He resisted for over three hours but now Sussex opener Ali Orr has gone at New Road.

Left-arm spinner Josh Baker has his second victim as Orr is surprised by one that turns and bounces and Jack Haynes takes the short-leg catch.

Just three wickets needed now by the Pears.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Bell-Drummond c Organ b Abbott 0 (Kent 305 & 51-2 v Hampshire 652-6 dec)

Two in one over for Kyle Abbott as DBD - following his 149 in the first innings - clips his fourth ball to mid-wicket. As has often been said, cricketing fortunes can be fickle.

  3. Postpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Warwickshire 385 v Essex 168 & 217-6

Essex draw level at Edgbaston as Dan Lawrence drives Will Rhodes for four and adds his seventh boundary two balls later.

He is now 35 not out and Simon Harmer has 22. A tremendous effort so far, but Essex still have a lot of batting to do with 21 overs remaining.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Dent c Salt b Mahmood 19 (Lancs v Glos 36-2 trail by 268)

A second blow for Lancashire and both openers now removed.

Chalk it up as another soft dismissal - far too many for Gloucestershire in the game.

Chris Dent rocks back to cut Saqib Mahmood, it's too close for the stroke, and he gets a thin edge behind.

    18 overs to come tonight.

Northants 20-0 need 499 to beat Yorks

Into the final hour of the day at Wantage Road - literally because of the superb over rate.

Steady away for Northants in their attempt to save this game.

Only three wickets fell in 95 overs of Yorkshire's second innings so the hosts should be confident of going deep in the fourth innings.

    Crawley lbw Abbott 29 (Kent 305 & 51-1 v Hampshire 652-6 dec)

    Kyle AbbottImage source, Rex Features

The ever reliable Kyle Abbott does the business for Hampshire at Canterbury, nipping one back off the seam to have Zak Crawley lbw.

Kent are 296 in arrears as first-innings centurion Daniel Bell-Drummond comes out to join Ben Crompton.

  7. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Warwickshire 385 v Essex 168 & 206-6

Essex are not far short of clearing the deficit at Edgbaston with Dan Lawrence and Simon Harmer stubbornly resisting for the visitors.

Lawrence is 23 not out and his South African partner has 19. They need 11 more for parity.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Abell c Foakes b Patel 53 (Surrey 308 v Somerset 337 & 132-3)

For once, Tom Abell is a little loose as he plays at a ball from Ryan Patel and edges through to Ben Foakes behind the stumps.

The Somerset skipper put on 89 for the third wicket with Tom Banton, who is 35 not out and has now been joined by James Hildreth.

  9. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Kent 305 & 50-0 v Hampshire 652-6 dec

Hampshire appear to be getting as little out of this pitch as Kent did earlier and single to Ben Compton off Keith Barker posts a 50 partnership with Zak Crawley. Still a long way to go, though, with the home side 297 behind.

    Surrey 308 v Somerset 337 & 129-2

    Tom AbellImage source, Rex Features

An unbeaten 150 in the first innings, now a 57-ball half-century in this.

Somerset skipper Tom Abell clips away what appears to be a slower ball from former team-mate Jamie Overton for his eighth four at the Oval.

    They are 158 ahead.

  11. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

Durham 85-5 trail Notts by 173

What on earth is going on in the North East?

Almost an hour after the advertised interval, they walk off for tea.

    Ridiculous.

Notts won't care because they're well on the way to victory.

Luke Fletcher and Dane Paterson with two wickets each.

WICKETpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Harris c Salt b Anderson 7 (Lancs v Glos 13-1 trail by 291)

James Anderson makes an early breakthrough!

Wicketless in 16 first-innings overs, he needs only three to strike second time around.

And it's the big wicket of Marcus Harris too.

Round the wicket, back of a length, Harris can't drop his hands in time and gets a touch through to Phil Salt.

    Horror start for the Glosters.

  13. Postpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Kent 305 & 35-0 v Hampshire 652-6 dec

The reputation Ben Compton has built in the last couple of weeks has been based on his determination and patience - not his array of cavalier strokes.

He is being watchful in this innings too, but has just dabbed a four to third man off Keith Barker before pulling the final ball of the same over for another.

Compton is 13 not out, Zak Crawley has 20 - but Kent are still 312 behind.

  14. Yorkshire declarepublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Northants v Yorks 406-3d lead by 498

    George HillImage source, Rex Features

    That will do for Yorkshire.

They pull out to set Northants 499 to win with 23 overs remaining this evening.

George Hill walks off unbeaten on 151.

It'll be beers on George tonight in The County pub.

Harry Brook has also played his part with 77 not out from 63 balls to buy his side some time.

  15. Tea at New Roadpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Worcestershire 491 v Sussex 269 & 93-6

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Fair to say Brett D’Oliveira made the right decision to enforce the follow on.

A demoralised Sussex have managed to reach tea, but Worcestershire will feel that a win within three days is within their grasp.

The shambolic run out of Delray Rawlins just before tea summed up the Sussex reply, and only opener Alastair Orr has shown the appetite for the fight.

Credit D’Oliveira for his imaginative bowling changes and field placings, but in reality Sussex have made his job easier

  16. Tea at the Ovalpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Surrey 308 v Somerset 337 & 123-2

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

If yesterday's 'champagne moment' was Tom Banton's stunning catch to remove Ollie Pope, today's has been the 90 mph swinging yorker from Jamie Overton which ripped out Matt Renshaw's off stump, after softening him up in the previous over with a vicious lifter which almost knocked off his helmet.

But since then, the two Toms, Abell and Banton, have batted with composure and growing confidence in a partnership of 80, which has helped to calm Somerset nerves.

  17. 150 runs

for George Hillpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Northants v Yorks 402-3 lead by 494

Yorkshire are on the charge straight after tea and George Hill has powered his way up to 150.

    Four sixes since the break.

Having Harry Brook, a highly skilled T20 player, out there now is most useful.

Will a 500 lead bring the declaration?

  18. Parkinson may be 'tricky proposition'published at 16:14 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Lancashire 556-7 dec v Gloucestershire 252 - tea

    Edward Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol commentator

Having been ground down by Josh Bohannon and Lancashire, Gloucestershire now know they will have to bat the best part of the rest of the match in order to save it.

The ball is turning and bouncing out of the footmarks from outside the right hander's leg stump, but doing far less from the line of the stumps, but Matt Parkinson still feels a tricky proposition for Gloucestershire on this surface.

Mohammad Amir arrived at the ground today doing a fair amount of bowling, and his expected first appearance next week will be much anticipated.

  19. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Warwickshire 385 v Essex 168 & 190-6

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Three more wickets in the session has kept the champions on course for their first win.

The Essex partnerships today tell the story - everything between 29 and 43, enough to give them encouragement but never enough to really concern the home side.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby has the standout figures of 3-15 off 17 overs and it was he who produced the ball of the day to knock out Matt Critchley’s middle stump when he was well set on 49.

Adam Wheater’s dismissal brought in Dan Lawrence, batting with a runner. With obvious limited mobility he resisted stoically up until tea but his partnership with Simon Harmer has to extend a lot further.

  20. Postpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Kent 308 & 18-0 v Hampshire 652-6 dec

Three fours for Zak Crawley in Keith Barker's opening over at Canterbury - one of them off a no-ball, so it costs the left-armer 14 in all.

Ben Compton is also under way at the other end with four runs off the back foot from the second delivery of Mohammad Abbas.
