  1. 100 runs

for Dane Vilaspublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Lancs 418-3 v Glos 252

If there's one man you absolutely do not want coming out at 240-3 it is probably Dane Vilas.

He has this wonderful ability to hold a team on the floor and rub their faces in the dirt.

And that's precisely what he's done here, sharing a huge stand with Bohannon to ram home Lancashire's position.

He takes Zafar Gohar for four from the penultimate ball of the session to reach a hundred in 136 balls with 11 fours.

  2. 200 runs

for Josh Bohannonpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Lancs 411-3 v Glos 252

What a wonderful moment for Josh Bohannon as he extends his career-best to a maiden double century.

He took Graeme van Buuren for back-to-back boundaries to move into the 190s and another off Zafar Gohar to go to 199.

A single raises his 200 in 403 deliveries with 28 fours.

    A Cook c Burgess b OHD 36 (Warwickshire 385 v Essex 168 & 73-3)

    Oliver Hannon-DalbyImage source, Rex Features

Oliver Hannon-Dalby returns for another spell and has Alastair Cook caught behind with the final delivery of his opening over.

Remember that Dan Lawrence is extremely unlikely to bat because of a hamstring injury, so Essex are effectively 73-4 and still 144 behind.

Cook didn't do a lot wrong there, the bat was straight in defence but the ball was good enough to find the outside edge and Michael Burgess - who is having a very good game indeed - made no mistake with the catch.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Clark lbw Brooks 10 (Surrey 287-8 v Somerset 337)

A pre-lunch boost for Somerset as Jack Brooks has Jordan Clark lbw on the back foot at the Oval. Clark's a pretty tall man, but there's not a lot of doubt about that one.

James Taylor is the new batter, with Jamie Overton still there on 16 not out.

  5. Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

Good news from Edgbaston after Liam Norwell was struck on the helmet by a ball from Essex's Mark Steketee during the second day's play..

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

Sussex have lost another wicket at New Road, with Grant Stewart falling to Ed Barnard for 18. They are 249-8 - 242 behind Worcestershire's first-innings total.

Ed Barnes has dismissed Alex Thomson and Nick Potts in successive overs and now has 4-98 for Leicestershire - but Derbyshire are 517-8 and 314 ahead at the Incora County Ground.

    Hello - what's this?

Jamie Overton defends a ball from brother Craig Overton, who kicks it back and hits him in the chest.

Hope they can both see the funny side.

  8. 50 runs

for George Hillpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Northants v Yorks 192-2 lead by 284

102 balls, six fours and a six for the 21-year-old from Keighley.

The third of his 11-match first-class career.

The scoring rate remains very healthy at Wantage Road and the lead growing quickly.

    Warwickshire 385 v Essex 168 v 65-2

Glorious shot. Matt Critchley drives Henry Brookes through the covers for four as he progresses to 23 not out.

There's another boundary for Essex in the next over a Alastair Cook sweeps spinner Danny Briggs, whose line was wayward there.

Cook has 32 and Essex need another 152 to make Warwickshire bat again.

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 426-4

Hampshire have a full set of batting points and Liam Dawson and Ben Brown have a 150 partnership as the former tucks spinner Hamidullah Qadri away for four.

Dawson is now 118 not out, and Brown is on 74 - the lead is 121.

  12. Double setback for Sussexpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Worcestershire 491 v Sussex 221-7

Dillon Pennington has taken wickets in successive overs to leave Sussex facing the prospect of a big first-innings deficit at New Road.

First, he knocked out Delray Rawlins' middle stump to send him on his way for 10.

And then he brought an end to the innings of Cheteshwar Pujara, who pushed forward in defence but edged to Ed Pollock at first slip and departed for 109.

Tom Alsop, batting with an injury, and Grant Stewart are now together.

  13. Career-best for Josh Bohannonpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Lancs 379-3 v Glos 252

Bolton's finest continues to make hay at Old Trafford as he moves to 175.

He goes past the 174 he made on the same ground against Derbyshire back in 2019.

Get a hundred and then make it a big one, that's certainly what the best players do and Bohannon has a similar taste.

  14. Oh brother! A lucky boundarypublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Surrey 271-7 v Somerset 337

Finally, it is Overton v Overton at the Oval.

Craig is bowling to brother Jamie, who edges wide of the slip cordon for four runs.

The paceman resists the temptation to politely tell his sibling how fortunate he is.

    Northants v Yorks 164-2 lead by 256

Despite the loss of Adam Lyth, Yorkshire continue to make excellent progress at Wantage Road.

Dawid Malan is going along at not far off a run-a-ball and with George Hill the pair have a half-century stand for the third wicket.

The lead is over 250 now and Yorkshire will be looking to raise it past 400 this afternoon.

    Leicestershire 213 v Derbyshire 504-5

    Mattie McKiernanImage source, Rex Features

Mattie McKiernan pushes Ed Barnes away for a single to reach his maiden first-class hundred from 189 balls.

One off Callum Parkinson in the next over takes the Derbyshire total to 500 but McKiernan then departs, lbw to Barnes for 101.

He batted for 224 minutes, faced 191 balls and hit a six and 11 fours. Derbyshire's lead is now 291.

    Curran c Renshaw b Siddle 80 9Surrey 261-7 v Somerset 337)

Sam Curran's batting potential has been spoken about for ages, but once again a maiden century eludes him as Somerset's two Australians combine for a wicket for the second time in successive Peter Siddle overs.

It was, in truth, a good delivery and Siddle now has 4-31. Impressive stuff.

    Will RhodesImage source, Rex Features

Unexpected lift for Will Rhodes and Essex skipper Tom Westley is caught behind off the shoulder of the bat.

Sir Alastair Cook is looking serene at the other end and picks up two fours in three balls off Craig Miles - a cover drive and a pull shot - as he moves to to 27 not out.

If you weren't with us yesterday, Miles was drafted into the game as a concussion replacement for Liam Norwell, who was struck on the helmet by Essex's Mark Steketee.

    Jacks c Renshaw b Siddle 24 (Surrey 246-6 v Somerset 337)

A wicket for Somerset as Will Jacks edges to second slip and Matt Renshaw claims a head-high catch.

The home side pass 250 - and earn a second batting point - at the end of the same over as Sam Curran punches the ball away past mid-off for four to advance to 75 not out.

    Glamorgan 122 & 132 v Middlesex 336

Michael Hogan backs away and attempts something ambitious - he makes no contact and the ball from Tom Helm flattens his leg stump.

Following last week's win at Trent Bridge, that's very disappointing batting display by Glamorgan, but Middlesex will be very satisfied with their first victory of the season.

Helm takes 2-22, but the main bowling plaudits go to Toby Roland-Jones, who has 5-40 for match figures of 8-84.
