  1. Wicket relief for Durhampublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Durham 230 v Notts 391-5

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It's taken 73 overs but Durham have eventually taken a wicket.

Lyndon James was dropped second ball of the morning off Matty Potts by skipper Scott Borthwick in the slips - the first chance he'd given in 207 deliveries.

Thankfully, from a Durham point of view it wasn't too costly because Potts got him with an inswinger a few overs later, removing his middle stump when on a career-best 108.

Ben Slater now has a career-best 176 not out, while Potts has taken four of the five wickets to fall - Notts lead by 161.

for Liam Dawsonpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 391-4

If you're going to do it, do it in style.

It's been a fine innings by Liam Dawson, who reaches his 11th first-class century with a straight drive for four off Matt Milnes.

Only 144 balls needed by the eight-hander, who has hit a six and 14 boundaries so far.

WICKETpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Van der Gugten lbw Helm 4 (Glamorgan 122 & 120-9 v Middlesex 336)

Just one more needed by Middlesex now after Timm van der Gugten is trapped in front as he tries to play Tom Helm away to leg. Michael Hogan comes out to join James Harris.

  4. Postpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Surrey 237-5 v Somerset 337

England spin bowler Jack Leach is on at the Oval - but there are no wickets yet for the left-armer, or Somerset, so far this morning. Sam Curran is now 68 not out and Will Jacks has 19 and they have added 64 together so far.

  5. Career-best for Ben Slaterpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Durham 230 v Notts 388-4

Ben Slater taking full advantage of this Riverside featherbed to go to a career-best, now 174.

Goes past the 172 he made while on loan to Leicestershire, from Notts, against Lancashire in 2020.

That was a "home" game for Lancashire at New Road if you remember, while Old Trafford was the bio-secure bubble for the internationals.

It also turned into a fabulous victory for the Foxes.

    Funny things happened during Covid.

  6. Derbyshire pair press onpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

We've been keeping you up to date with events at Cardiff, the Riverside and New Road.

At the Incora County Ground, Derbyshire have progressed to 473-4 against Leicestershire - a lead of 260 - and Mattie McKiernan is now 79 not out.

Leus du Plooy is on 36 and their stand is currently worth 63.

  7. Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Lancs 323-3 v Glos 252

110 overs up at Old Trafford and, as expected, Lancashire don't have time for a fourth batting point.

Only one bowling point for Gloucestershire, who are looking at another couple sessions in the dirt.

  8. 50 runs

for Ben Brownpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 374-4

He almost did it last week but was out for 49 against Surrey, but a four through point off Matt Milnes carries Ben Brown to a first half-century for his new county from 79 balls.

We reckon it was a smart bit of business to sign a player who scored almost 1,000 runs for Sussex last summer, with four hundreds, and Brown has so far added 99 with Liam Dawson, who is 87 not out.

  9. 100 runs

for Chesteshwar Pujarapublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Worcestershire 491 v Sussex 190-5

An unbeaten 201 against Derbyshire last week, an unbeaten hundred against Worcestershire this week.

It's fair to say that Cheteshwar Pujara is in decent nick at the moment and he reaches his latest three-figure score off 184 balls by pulling away a short one from Joe Leach for the 14th four of his innings.

Worcestershire are striving for their first breakthrough of the morning, but Sussex are still 301 behind.

WICKETpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Lyth c Sanderson b Kelly 53 (Northants v Yorks 101-2 lead by 193)

Having got away with one loose stroke outside off, this time Adam Lyth edges behind.

It was a touch too close for his back-foot force and I think a hint of bounce may also have done for him.

Joy for Northants and they need something to happen to get back in the game.

    James b Potts 108 (Durham 230 v Notts 275-4)

    Lyndon JamesImage source, Getty

The mammoth fourth-wicket stand between Ben Slater and Lyndon James doesn't go too much further on day three.

James' 108 was his maiden first-class century has got one from Matty Potts that has scuttled through quite low.

220 the partnership - the highest for Notts against Durham.

  12. Postpublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Warwickshire 385 v Essex 168 & 11-1

Sir Alastair CookImage source, Rex Features

Alastair Cook collects his second boundary of the morning with a stylish cover drive off Oliver Hannon-Dalby. Essex are still 206 behind so they certainly need a big innings from the former England skipper.

  13. 150 runs

for Josh Bohannonpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Lancs 310-3 v Glos 252

Josh Bohannon likes to go big - two of his three previous first-class tons were 170s.

He could go even larger today and has the perfect situation - a great chance to push his case for an England call up.

A gorgeous back-foot punch through cover-point off Ajeet Singh Dale so far this morning.

Dane Vilas, with a flick through midwicket, to his own milestone as well, fifty in 51 balls with seven fours.

  14. 50 runs

for Adam Lythpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Northants v Yorks 98-1 lead by 190

Yorkshire began the third day 177 on with nine wickets in hand and the chance to bat Northants out of the game.

Adam Lyth goes to fifty with a big slice of luck - slicing Matt Kelly wide of the cordon for an eighth boundary.

    81 balls for his half-century.

  15. 50 runs

for Sam Curranpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Surrey 212-5 v Somerset 337

    Sam CurranImage source, Getty Images

Sam Curran marks his first game after a lengthy injury lay-off with an 86-ball fifty and that's a great way to reach - a well-timed punch straight down the ground off Craig Overton for the eighth four of his innings.

  16. WICKETpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Neser c Robson b TRJ 27 (Glamorgan 122 & 113-8 v Middlesex 336)

Michael Neser obligingly clips a catch to mid-wicket and that is a five-for for former England pace bowler Toby Roland-Jones.

The right-armer now has eight wickets in the game and Glamorgan are on the brink of a heavy defeat - a week after beating Notts at Trent Bridge.

  17. 300 runs

up for Lancashirepublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Lancs 307-3 v Glos 252

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Lancashire yesterday - and Josh Bohannon in particular - was the way they just built steadily throughout the day with calm, controlled batting.

There was no panic, no slap-dash periods of unsustainable runscoring but an ability to absorb pressure and a key understanding of the game situation.

And yes that is very much a dig at many other batting line ups around the country.

Only three wickets taken by Gloucestershire but their positive was the way they didn't let the run rate escalate even as those partnerships were building.

But they have to strike this morning to get back in the game.

Third batting point raised for the home side and that should be all unless they have a serious dip in the remaining five overs of bonus point period.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Northeast c White b TRJ 21 (Glamorgan 122 & 104-7 v Middlesex)

This one might not last very long.

Sam Northeast goes back to a ball from Toby Roland-Jones and Robbie White takes a comfortable slip catch.

Northeast failed to add to his overnight score and Glamorgan still need 110 to avoid an innings defeat.

  19. Fourth batting point for Hampshirepublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Kent 305 v Hampshire 350-4

Hampshire make a positive start at Canterbury with Liam Dawson and Ben Brown both finding the leg-side boundary in the first two overs. Dawson is 71 not out and his partner has 46.

  20. Postpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 23 April 2022

    Surrey 208-5 v Somerset 337

Craig Overton opens up for Somerset but overpitches and Sam Curran clips it away for four. The left-hander is just two short of 50 now.
