    Essex 193 & 104-3 v Northants 390

The runs have dried up at Chelmsford since tea, but Essex won't be too bothered - so have the wickets.

Paul Walter and Matt Critchley are managing to keep Northamptonshire at bay, soaking up the pressure of five maidens in a row and bringing the deficit below three figures.

Walter is 24 not out, with Critchley on 19, and the pair have added 46 so far in this second innings.

That's two games done inside three days.

Another that could finish today is at Trent Bridge. Notts are 154-3 chasing 233 to beat Worcestershire.

  4. SOMERSET BEAT WARWICKSHIREpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 30 April 2022
    Breaking

Somerset (458) beat Warwickshire (209 & 167) by an innings and 82 runs

Jack Leach bowls Matt Lamb for 40 to complete a huge victory for Somerset.

After three defeats on the spin at the start of the campaign it's a fine comeback and a fine all-round performance with bat and ball.

It's a first defeat of the season for the defending champions.

  6. MIDDLESEX BEAT LEICESTERSHIREpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 30 April 2022
    Breaking

    Middlesex (370 & 52-0) beat Leicestershire (149 & 272) by 10 wickets

Mark Stoneman and Sam Robson knock off the 52 needed inside 11 overs at Lord's.

A convincing victory which takes Middlesex to the top of Division Two for the time being.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 30 April 2022

    Gubbins lbw b Lamb 130 (Hants 246 & 305-7 v Lancs 240)

Danny Lamb broke that key fifth-wicket stand earlier - now he does it again for Lancashire by removing Nick Gubbins!

The left-hander is lbw moving across his stumps - in fact, six of the seven Hampshire wickets to fall have been leg before.

James Fuller heads out to join Keith Barker, with Hampshire leading by 311.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 30 April 2022

    Miles c Renshaw b Overton 21 (Somerset 458 v Warwickshire 209 & 167-9 f/o)

    One to go!

Craig Miles edges Craig Overton to slip and is on his way for a gutsy 21.

Last man Oliver Hannon-Dalby comes in with the Bears still trailing by 82 runs.

    Hants 246 & 300-6 v Lancs 240

It's a bit cat and mouse at the Ageas Bowl, where Hampshire must be thinking about what kind of target they'd like to set their visitors.

Keith Barker is going for his shots and has reached 29 not out as he and centurion Nick Gubbins steer Hampshire past 300.

That means the lead is 306 - maybe the aim is to try and add another 50 or so and then have a dart at Lancashire this evening?

  10. Postpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 30 April 2022

    Somerset 458 v Warwickshire 209 & 162-8 (f/o)

Somerset are being made to wait for victory here by Matt Lamb and Craig Miles.

Their ninth-wicket stand is worth 41.

The hosts will want to get this done with quickly - the weather forecast for Sunday in Taunton isn't great.

  11. Postpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 30 April 2022

    Yorkshire 571 v Kent 291 & 36-2

Yorkshire paceman Haris Rauf isn't on the field at the moment.

It appears the Pakistan bowler has a slight niggle in his left side and is being assessed by the club's medical team.

    Bell-Drummond c Karunaratne b Patterson 2 (Yorkshire 571 v Kent 291 & 27-2)

Kent lose their second wicket early in the evening session.

Daniel Bell-Drummond drives Steven Patterson straight to cover.

That's a big wicket with Bell-Drummond in fine form and coming off the back of a first-innings century.

    Gloucs 343-2 v Surrey 603

It's worth remembering that bonus points are still up for grabs in this Gloucestershire first innings, with 18 overs remaining before the cut-off point.

That should be ample time for the batting side to collect two more points, you'd think - with 57 runs required.

Whether Surrey can take another wicket and earn themselves a bowling point might be another matter...

    Somerset 458 v Warwickshire 209 & 143-8 (f/o)

Back out for what is likely to be the final session at Taunton.

The Bears still need 106 to avoid an innings defeat. Matt Lamb and Craig Miles will give it everything they've got I'm sure.

  15. Middlesex need 52 to winpublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 30 April 2022

    Middlesex 370 v Leics 149 & 272

    Ben MikeImage source, Rex Features

Toby Roland-Jones has just bowled Leicestershire number 11 Beuran Hendricks to leave Ben Mike stranded on 99.

Middlesex will need just 52 for their second victory of the season.

Elsewhere in Division Two, Derbyshire's run-machine Shan Masood has fallen for 42 against Glamorgan.

The Pakistan batsman has had a dreadful match - scores of just 60 and now 42, knocking his season average down to a mere 118.83!

  16. 'Good session for Durham'published at 16:11 British Summer Time 30 April 2022

    Sussex 538 v Durham 223 & 42-0

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A really good session for Durham who took the five remaining Sussex wickets for 34 and then reached tea without losing a wicket.

Cheteshwar Pujara completed his second double hundred of the season an imperious innings full of shots around the wicket, and he added 154 with Mohammad Rizwan who made 79.

Liam Trevaskis picking up a deserved five-wicket haul, and also worth a mention was the excellent Durham ground fielding.

  17. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 30 April 2022

    Somerset 458 v Warwickshire 209 & 135-8 (f/o)

Somerset will need two wickets in the final session of day three to wrap up an innings victory.

Unless Warwickshire's last three batters can find another 114 runs that is. Unlikely.

  18. Tea at Headingleypublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 30 April 2022

    Yorkshire 571 v Kent 291 & 24-1

Yorkshire go to tea on day three in complete control. The wicket of Zak Crawley just before the interval continued a fine day for Matthew Revis after his maiden fifty earlier.

    Kent still trail by 256.

  19. Tea at Bristolpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 30 April 2022

    Gloucs 333-2 v Surrey 603

The run-fest continues unabated at Bristol, with Chris Dent and Marcus Harris both hitting centuries to blunt Surrey's bowling attack.

Dent is still there on 153, with Harris (124) eventually falling to Colin de Grandhomme before Jordan Clark bowled James Bracey for a duck in the next over.

League leaders Surrey will surely need a flurry of wickets after tea to stand any chance of pressing for victory.

  20. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 30 April 2022

    Hants 246 & 273-6 v Lancs 240

Nick Gubbins has been in imperious mood, batting throughout these first two sessions and scoring his second century of the match.

Gubbins is 116 not out at the interval, having shared a fifth-wicket stand of 144 with Ben Brown (72), while Keith Barker is unbeaten on 13 as Hampshire extend their lead to 279.
