  1. MATCH DRAWN AT CHELMSFORDpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 1 May 2022

    Essex (193 & 328-9, 10 pts) drew with Northants (390, 13 pts)

    Hands are shaken at Chelmsford.

Essex's rearguard second-innings effort has rescued them against Northants - and the game is drawn.

  2. Bad light stops playpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 1 May 2022

    Yorkshire 0-0 (target 114) v Kent

Yorkshire are unable to get their chase of 114 off 21 overs going at Headingley because of bad light.

The floodlights are on, but umpires Steve O'Shaughnessy and Graham Lloyd have deemed them to have taken over from any natural light.

    Controversial.

  3. GAME OVER AT SOUTHAMPTONpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 1 May 2022

    Hampshire (246 & 344) drew with Lancashire (240 & 9-0)

After a frustrating rain-hit day the only surprise at the Aegas Bowl is that it took until 5 o'clock to finally call it off.

The fact that Hampshire were behind on their over-rate and were very keen to get started was obviously a factor.

But both sides can now move from the disappointing loss of a complete day in a game so intriguingly poised.

Both sides are back in action on Thursday, Lancashire at home to Warwickshire and Hampshire again at home to Gloucestershire.

More crucially. No further wickets lost.

WICKETpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 1 May 2022

    Gilchrist c Revis b Patterson 0 (Yorkshire 571 v Kent 291 & 389-9)

    GONE FIRST BALL!

Nathan Gilchrist chips Steven Patterson to mid-off. That's a SIXTH duck in a row for Gilchrist.

Kent are suddenly nine down, and we could have a chase of about 6 an over on our hands!

WICKETpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 1 May 2022

    Milnes lbw b Patterson 1 (Yorkshire 571 v Kent 291 & 389-8)

    Stewart run out 90 (Yorkshire 571 v Kent 291 & 384-7)

    Now then...

Grant Stewart is run out... well Jordan Cox who's running for him is short of his ground.

Stewart clips Steven Patterson to mid-wicket and it's a direct hit from Jordan Thompson.

Stewart goes for a brilliant 90. Kent lead by 104 with three wickets in hand. Is it too late for Yorkshire still?

Mark Steketee comes out to join Adam Wheater (19).

The lead is 107. Another 26 overs to come after this one.

But the floodlights are on and there is still the odd spot of rain in the air.

Darren Gough Ottis GibsonImage source, Getty Images

Yorkshire managing director of cricket Darren Gough and head coach Ottis Gibson must be wondering what they're seeing at Headingley.

This game has completely got away from them in the 30 minutes since tea.

  15. Postpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 1 May 2022

    Yorkshire 571 v Kent 291 & 377-6

Nightmare for Matthew Revis. He oversteps twice, both balls go to the boundary from Grant Stewart and he finishes the over with a six.

22 off it. Kent lead by 97, and is that the game done for Yorkshire?

  16. Postpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 1 May 2022

    Yorkshire 571 v Kent 291 & 359-6

Grant Stewart continues to punish anything wayward from Yorkshire's bowlers.

Matthew Revis bangs one in short and Stewart pulls it to the rope.

The lead grows to 79 and they still have four wickets in hand. This stand of 141 with Ollie Robinson has almost taken the game away from Yorkshire.

  17. Postpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 1 May 2022

    Yorkshire 571 v Kent 291 & 342-6

Is that the over that scuppers Yorkshire's chances of victory?

Jordan Thompson goes for 20 off it, including two sixes to Grant Stewart, both swatted into the leg-side.

The lead is now 62 and Stewart is in full-on attack mode.

  18. Postpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 1 May 2022

    Northants 390, Essex 193 & 286-7

Essex slowly build on their lead over Northamptonshire after tea as this game reaches a key half hour or so.

At only 89 runs ahead with three wickets remaining, Essex are not out of the woods yet. But it is getting a bit murky at Chelmsford - and Northants really ned to break through again now.

  19. And still they wait at Southamptonpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 1 May 2022

    Hampshire 246 & 344, Lancashire 240 & 9-0

Only a matter of time now, surely?

Will the third session of the day go the same way as the first two?

Great catch by Mohammad Rizwan at slip!

Scott Borthwick edges Delray Rawlins, it bounces off the keeper and is looping over Rizwan but he dives to catch the ball one-handed.

Is there a bit of life left in this one yet?
