    Vince lbw b Overton 6 (Somerset 211 v Hampshire 117-4)

Oh, this is the big wicket Somerset wanted!

James Vince is always the big scalp in the Hampshire batting and Craig Overton has got him.

It's full but hits Vince on the shins and the finger goes up. It's now 3-21 for Overton as he continues to threaten.

    Gubbins c Davies b Siddle 36 (Somerset 211 v Hampshire 117-3)

Nick Gubbins has gone! He doesn't like it but his innings is over.

Peter Siddle has struggled in this innings but Banana Man gets this one in the right area and enough to convince the umpire that Gubbins nicked it behind.

This is a good little session for Somerset. Can they pick up another wicket or two before the close?

  6. Careful Craig!published at 18:05 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Somerset 211 v Hampshire 115-2

Old habits and all that but Craig Overton will feel that one after stopping a James Vince shot with his foot.

He has run it off, but it was clear that blow caused him a bit of bother.

That is not what you want when the Somerset man is pretty certain to be on England duty for that first Test with New Zealand on 2 June.

  7. Northants begin replypublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Northants 2-0 v Kent 519-9 dec

Stumps have been called here in Manchester where it has been raining since tea.

Lancashire will resume in the morning a whopping 359 runs adrift of Essex and needing another 210 to avoid the follow-on.

The Eagles have dominated a shortened day thanks to Shane Snater's 72 and some excellent new-ball bowling from Sam Cook and Jamie Porter.

Stewart lbw Procter 61 (Northants v Kent 519-9 dec)

Grant Stewart is leg-before to Luke Procter as he attempts to swing the ball away to leg and Kent immediately declare, denying Jas Singh the chance to bat at number 11.

Stewart's 61 came from just 44 balls and included five sixes and four fours.

You wouldn't want to be a Northants opener facing this position, would you?

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Holland c Davies b Overton 49 (Somerset v Hampshire 107-2)

A 400th first class wicket for Craig Overton.

He has bowled excellently in this innings and he produces the perfect ball just outside the stumps to get the edge of Ian Holland's bat.

Holland has done an excellent job as a makeshift opener, but he can't reach his half century.

for Grant Stewartpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Northants v Kent 497-8

    Quite an over - 1-4-6-6-1-6.

Matt Kelly won't want to look at those numbers.

The first two sixes took Grant Stewart's tally to five before a single carried him to a 33-ball 50, and Matt Quinn joined in by hoicking a bouncer over the rope at mid-wicket.
