    Worcs 332-2 v Leics 148

Azhar Ali and Jack Haynes have set a new Worcestershire record for any wicket against Leicestershire.

They have now put on 279 - beating the 278 by Cyril Walters and Harold Gibbons on the same ground in 1934.

A boundary off Wiaan Mulder takes Haynes to 126 and Azhar is 139 not out.

Rain stops play at Old Traffordpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Lancashire 32-5 v Essex 391

    Lancashire CCCImage source, BBC Sport

This photo was taken seconds before the rain started again at Old Trafford.

Judging by the colour of that cloud, we may not see any more play this afternoon.

That will be a relief to Messrs Bailey, Ali and Parkinson, who spent the tea break having an emergency net session!

  3. 50 runs

for Harry Brookpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Yorks 199-3 v Warwicks 244

A new over from Danny Briggs and Harry Brook drives past mid-on for four before dabbing two runs to third man to reach 50 off 77 balls.

Brooks has also gone past 800 runs for the season now and he is certainly doing his best to persuade the England selectors that he should be in the XI for the Lord's Test against New Zealand.

  4. Durham gain three batting pointspublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Middlesex v Durham 330-8

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Brydon Carse cracked two sixes in two balls to bring up Durham's third batting point with a ball to spare in the 110th over.

The first went into the upper tier if The Tavern Stand and Max Holden was the fielder who had to climb the stairs to retrieve it. The next delivery from Luke Hollman then found its way to the pavilion boundary.

Carse added 58 for Durham's eighth wicket with Liam Trevaskis but his luck ran out when he tried to hook a ball from Martin Andersson and gloved it to the keeper.

Trevaskis is on 73, having made 88 at Hove a few weeks ago, and has batted nicely after coming to the crease last night. Play did not get underway until 2.40pm because of rain and there are 36 overs left in the day if the light holds.

  5. Tea at Northamptonpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Northants v Kent 399-6

Final over before the interval and Jack Leaning times Luke Procter away through mid-wicket for four to reach a 120-ball half-century - his first of the season. It is the seventh boundary of his innings and he is 52 not out at the interval.

  6. Postpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Yorks 175-3 v Warwicks 244

Back in the middle at Headingley and Harry Brook pulls Will Rhodes' opening delivery over the leg-side for four. He couldn't have middled that or it would have ended up in the stand.

A far better stroke later in the over as he drives past mid-off for another boundary and progresses to 38 not out.

  7. Division Two round-uppublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

Tom Moores hits a boundary off Nick Potts to take Nottinghamshire to 257-5 at tea and they are one similar blow away from establishing a lead against Derbyshire.

Liam Trevaskis and Brydon Carse have posted a 50 partnership for Durham against Middlesex at Lord's - the visitors are 319-7 and achieved a third batting point after back to back sixes by Carse off Liam Hollman.

They are still at tea at New Road where Worcestershire are 307-2 against Leicestershire, with Azhar Ali and Jack Haynes both having passed 100.

  8. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Lancashire 32-5 v Essex 391

The players walk off the field to almost stunned silence from those inside Old Trafford.

Essex have dominated day two and they now have an iron grip on this match.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Stevens c McManus b Keogh 19 (Northants b Kent 389-6)

That's a limp dismissal for Darren Stevens.

Spinner Rob Keogh sends down a flatter delivery outside off stump which the Kent all-rounder tries to late cut, but his weight is all on the back foot and he edges to keeper Lewis McManus.

George Linde is the new Kent batter.

  10. Four!published at 15:56 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Lancashire 32-5 v Essex 391

The first ball of spin from Simon Harmer and Phil Salt drives down the ground for four.

That is the first boundary of the innings in the 15th over.

He follows it with another through the offside to the rope.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Mullaney c Guest b Potts 27 (Notts 249-5 v Derbyshire 260)

Notts are on the verge of a second batting point, and not far off a first-innings lead, when Steven Mullaney is caught behind off Nick Potts, ending a 45-run partnership with Lyndon James.

It's a good ball from the young paceman and brings him his second wicket of the session, having earlier bowled Joe Clarke off the inside edge.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Vilas b Snater 11 (Lancashire 24-5 v Essex 391)

The big wicket for Essex! Dane Vilas has gone!

Essex are having a magic hour, which could be decisive in the context of the game.

On comes Shane Snater and fourth ball he gets Vilas, who plays on when a ball gets up on him as the Lancashire captain tries to advance out of his crease to defend.

  13. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Somerset 211 v Hampshire 95-1

Tea is being taken after rain forces the players off the field a few minutes early.

  14. Postpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Northants v Kent 376-5

Northants have tightened it up a bit in recent overs, with Kent only able to add ones and twos to their total.

You would assume the visitors' plan is to only bat once in this game, so there is still plenty of work to do - with Jack Leaning 39 not out and Darren Stevens on 18.

  15. Sam Cook on the moneypublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Lancashire 24-4 v Essex 391

This has been an outstanding opening spell from Sam Cook.

His current figures read 7-3-5-2 and he has been on the money from ball one, with no cheap giveaways.

He gets one to lift that has Phil Salt in trouble, but no edge.

  16. Tea at New Roadpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Worcestershire 307-2 v Leicestershire 148

A maiden from Colin Ackermann to Azhar Ali ends the afternoon in Worcester, with the home side in a position of total dominance.

Following a delayed start, Azhar Ali and Jack Haynes have added 148 to their overnight 159-2 and their stand is now worth 254.

Azhar is 130 not out, Haynes has 117 and the lead is 159.

  17. Postpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Somerset 211 v Hampshire 90-1

Nick Gubbins flashes one over the slips down to the fence for four and that brings up the 50 partnership between him and Ian Holland.

On a gloomy day against the four seamers, they are really knuckling down.

  18. Tea at Headingleypublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Yorkshire 167-3 v Warwickshire 244

They got rid of Joe Root cheaply, but Yorkshire are still looking good against the reigning champions with Adam Lyth 69 not out and Harry Brook on 30.

Lyth plays out a maiden from Danny Briggs to end the afternoon session and the home side will presumably be looking to press on into tomorrow to try and establish a significant first-innings lead.

  20. Pears centurions press onpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 20 May 2022

    Worcs 306-2 v Leics 148

Worcestershire have their third batting point and it is time to consult the list of the club's record stands.

Azhar Ali (129) and Jack Haynes (117) have now put on 253 and they need to add another 17 to set a new third wicket record against Leicestershire.
