That wraps up another round of County Championship fixtures.

    Thanks for joining us again.

A thrilling victory inside three days for Essex over fellow title rivals Hampshire - then a win in Division Two for Glamorgan over promotion rivals Worcestershire at New Road.

And then came this evening's drama at Hove where Sussex pulled off such a stunning victory against Derbyshire.

Their first win in 20 Championship games, since April 2021, as they reached their victory target of 342 with 17 balls to spare.

And all that after Derbyshire made the inexplicable decision not to enforce the follow-on.

Today's other four games were drawn - but every fixture gave us something to remember.

Most of all though, it's been a reet good week for the Roots!

Mohammad Rizwan ends unbeaten on 76 after his first-innings 130 while Ali Orr's 141 played a key role too.

Derbyshire will be left to rue their decision not to avoid the follow-on last night after establishing a first-innings lead of 214.

    Prolonging the drama!

Carter follows that six by being pinned lbw by Mark Watt. The Sussex man walks almost before the finger is raised.

Luis Reece chucks one up that almost says "go on Mohammad, hit me for four". So he does.

Sussex can almost taste their first County Championship win since April 2021 - a run of 19 winless matches.

  12. Postpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

Carter then cuts Luis Reece for a classy four.

This is a lovely knock, 13 off eight balls. He's not needed any time to adapt to the pitch at all.

    Sussex 337 & 308-4 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec

Hmm, a glimmer of hope for Derbyshire, if they can take a couple more wickets.

That six proved the high point of Delray Rawlins' innings as he's dismissed by a cracking diving catch at midwicket by Wayne Madsen.

After his 176 in Derbyshire's first innings, Madsen must be wondering how his side are facing defeat here.

They are staring down the barrel a bit here.

  18. MATCH DRAWN AT THE OVALpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Surrey (673-7 dec) 16 pts, Kent (331 & 361-4) 12 pts

It's all over at The Oval.

Only one game still going now, at Hove.

Having been temporarily replaced on the top of the Division One table by Hampshire last night, Surrey take 16 points from their draw with Kent to return to the summit.

But really Kent, who claimed only 12 points, have more cause for satisfaction. After being made to follow on, chasing Surrey's daunting score of 673-7, the visitors had to bat out four sessions to save the game.

Their key man was Daniel Bell-Drummond, who hit his second century in the match, to follow the positive lead set by openers Joe Denly and Ben Compton.

DBD's double helped him match team-mate Compton's ton tally of four for the season - the most in the Championship top flight in 2022.

The two teams now meet again in the T20 Blast at The Oval on Friday night when South Group leaders Surrey host the reigning champions.

That's why Delray Rawlins was promoted up the order a couple of places.

Picks up the short ball from Mark Watt and lofts it over long on for a max.

  20. Rory Burns comes on to bowlpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

The end is clearly nigh as Rory Burns comes on to bowl.
