  1. GLOUCESTERSHIRE DRAW WITH LANCASHIREpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Gloucestershire 337 & 176-3, Lancashire 405

Gloucestershire's home game with Lancashire ends in a draw.

Hands are shaken following an annoying hour of post-luncheon interval rain.

Lancashire cement their place in third in the Division One table with 14 pots, while Gloucestershire get 13 points, but remain bottom.

The two sides are both next back on County Championship duty in 12 days' time when Gloucestershire go to face Simon Harmer at Chelmsford - and Lancashire host Somerset at Trafalgar Road, Southport.

    Sussex 337 & 122-1 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec (Sussex need 220 more runs)

We had high hopes for an exciting denouement at Hove but Derbyshire's spinners have slowed the Sussex run rate right down. Just 10 runs off the past five overs.

The hosts were up with the required rate about 45 minutes ago. Now, not so much.

  3. 200 runs

Double century stand for Rickelton & Procterpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Northants 451 & 219-2, Warwickshire 405

Double century stand for Ryan Rickelton and Luke Procter in 45 and a half overs.

Impressive. Back to the sort of scoring rate that Northants showed on the first day.

    The lead is 265.

  4. 50 runs

    50 for Kent's Bell-Drummondpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 331 & 219-2

Surrey have followed Notts' earlier lead by bringing a part-timer into the attack but a Ryan Patel spell has yielded nothing.

In the meantime, Daniel Bell-Drummond has reached his 50 - after 102 in Kent's first innings, he's playing a huge part in steering his side to a draw and will no doubt be hoping for back-to-back centuries.

  5. 100 runs

Century for Luke Procterpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Northants 451 & 207-2, Warwickshire 405

Third century of the season for Northamptonshire's Luke Procter.

He got there in a hurry in the end, with three sixes in quick succession before the three that took him to three figures.

It is the seventh ton of the former Lancashire all-rounder's career.

He hit three for the Red Rose - and now has four for Northants.

South African Ryan Rickelton lies in wait for his first, on his debut. He is now on 87 - and the lead is up to 253.

  6. Middlesex lead for first timepublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Nottinghamshire 551-8 dec v Middlesex 376 & 179-0

It's taken three and a half days but Middlesex are leading for the first time at Trent Bridge. All academic of course. Draw city.

  7. Sussex need 229 more runs to winpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Sussex 337 & 113-1 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec

Five games left to be finished then, and it seems Sussex's run chase at Hove provides the most likely chance of a result.

With nine wickets in hand, you suspect they will try to get to tea with no further damage and then potentially let rip in the evening session.

  8. 'Race' to the 100 . . .published at 14:49 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Northants 451 & 187-2, Warwickshire 405

In a game that is otherwise grinding to a painful end, there is surely only one matter to resolve.

Whether either Ryan Rickelton (84) or Luke Procter (92) can get to their ton?

And, if so, which of them will get there first?

Hang on though. Two sixes in one over for Procter off Jacob Bethell.

233 the lead. 46 overs left in the day.

Are the hosts going to be proactive and suddenly set a target?

  9. 200 runs

200 up for Kentpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 331 & 202-2

There will be a few teams in the top half of Division One cheering on Kent today.

They stand in the way of Surrey establishing a 24-point lead at the summit. And they're standing as tall as Optimus Prime, the BFG and Godzilla combined right now.

  10. Hameed into Notts' attackpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Nottinghamshire 551-8 dec v Middlesex 376 & 163-0

Further to the last-but-one entry, Notts have brought Haseeb Hameed into the attack.

The opener has not bowled a ball in first-class cricket since 2017.

It's the sort of crazy desperation move that sometimes pays off, you know.

  11. rain stops play

Yet to restart at Nevil Roadpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Gloucestershire 337 & 176-3, Lancashire 402

Yet to resume after lunch in Bristol.

Light rain started to fall again just when they were getting ready to restart - and it is still falling, so the covers remain on.

Any realistic hope of a positive outcome to this game was ended this morning by the unbroken 103-run stand between James Bracey and Miles Hammond. And it will now just be a question of when hands are shaken.

  12. 150 runs

150 up for Middlesex without losspublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Nottinghamshire 551-8 dec v Middlesex 376 & 151-0

The lid of the jar will not come off at Trent Bridge.

Nottinghamshire are trying twisting it, prying it, banging it, yelling at it - and nothing is working.

Mark Stoneman (55no) and Sam Robson (74no) bring up Middlesex's 150. Shake hands on a draw, lads, and crack open the refreshments.

  13. 50 runs

    50 for Sussex's Orrpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Sussex 337 & 91-1 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec

A fine 50 from Sussex opener Ali Orr as the hosts continue to toy with the notion of winning a match that looked unwinnable after Derbyshire's first innings 551.

He crashes Alex Thomson away for four to bring up the half-century in fabulous fashion - 251 needed with nine wickets in hand.

50 partnership for Kentpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 331 & 181-2

Surrey won't be panicking just yet - but the leaders' game against Kent is not proving quite as routine as they might have thought after their massive first-innings declaration.

Daniel Bell-Drummond (28no) and Jack Leaning (24no) are plodding along nicely. It's not quite the 161 stand they put on in Kent's first innings but it is a half-century partnership.

The minutes aren't quite ticking down for Surrey yet but they need to break this partnership.

  15. Sussex slowed downpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Sussex 337 & 79-1 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7 dec

Things have calmed down at Hove.

After hitting the first four post-lunch overs for 29, Sussex have managed just three runs off the next four. Feast or famine there.

  16. Set to restart in Bristol?published at 14:08 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Gloucestershire 337 & 176-3, Lancashire 402

Play about to resume at Nevil Road

50s for Luke Procter and Ryan Rickeltonpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Northants 451 & 120-2 Warwickshire 405

Massive excitement - and hand warming opportunities - at Wantage Road as the Northants century, Luke Procter's half-century, Ryan Rickelton's half-century and the 100 partnership all come up in quick succession.

With a lead of 161 - and 18 wickets still to be taken in this match - this game looks dead in the water.

It's just a question now, as Genesis once sang, of 'Counting Out Time'.

But the Northants pair are at least going for a few shots now.

12 off the last over from Rickelton.

    50 for Middlesex's Stonemanpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Nottinghamshire 551-8 dec v Middlesex 376 & 132-0

Middlesex continue to grind out the runs at Trent Bridge where Notts are running out of ideas a bit.

Mark Stoneman follows fellow opener Sam Robson into the half-century club.

for Sussex's Orrpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

    Sussex 337 & 70-1 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec

Sussex are going for this, you know. No thoughts of a draw in their minds, it seems.

Nice boundary from Tom Alsop and then Ali Orr launches a huge six off Mark Watt.

The three post-lunch overs have gone for 19. Sussex are yet to win in Division Two this season and clearly see this as a chance to rid themselves of that unwanted statistic.

  20. Postpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 29 June 2022

The players are back out in the majority of our matches, although rain is still falling at Bristol where Gloucestershire and Lancashire are engaged in a war of attrition.

Where will the first wicket of the afternoon fall?
